YEOVIL'S DOUBLE DOHERTY BLOW
Yeovil Town have given up hope of being able to field Tommy Doherty during the rest of his loan spell - but will probably still have to pay the QPR man's wages. Former Bristol City captain Doherty was injured and forced off the pitch after just nine minutes of his Yeovil debut at Chesterfield 11 days ago. It was initially feared he had suffered a recurrence of a shin injury, but QPR doctors have since diagnosed him with a fresh ankle injury. Doherty is technically a Yeovil player until April 2, but Glovers manager Steve Thompson does not expect to see him in the green and white hoops again. Thompson said: "Tommy has been put in a special medical boot and there I think there is practically no chance that he will play any part for us in his month loan. "I'm not sure what the full situation is because I was only particularly concerned with this month, but it wouldn't surprise me if Tommy's season is finished now." Asked if Yeovil would have to continue paying Doherty's wages, Thompson said: "Yes, that is the situation as it stands at the moment." Yeovil chairman and chief executive John Fry added: "You get circumstances like this that arrive, and you hope for some common sense. "But if it's a written contract, it's a written contract, and you have to take the rough with the smooth." Meanwhile, Thompson hopes captain Terry Skiverton (hip) will return to training tomorrow. Kevin Amankwaah (ankle) did some light training yesterday and should also train fully tomorrow. Phil Jevons (ankle) still has a slim chance of making Saturday's trip to Bournemouth, but Chris Weale (knee) is rated as 'very doubtful'. Chris Cohen (ankle) and Adam Lockwood (eye) are both training as nor mal. Fry was meeting with fellow directors last night to further discuss 'the overall situation within the club' and he said a series of announcements would follow. He said issues on the agenda included the two proposed new directors, stadium redevelopment, plans for next season and the position of majority shareholder David Webb. Fry said: "David still wants to be involved in some aspect of the club - how he does that will be discussed."
