Wycombe search for young striker
Wycombe boss Paul Lambert has said that his search to replace Jermaine Easter will mean bringing in a young striker looking to make a name for himself. "We're looking to bring in another striker but we haven't got the money top buy anyone," Lambert told SSB. "We might have to look at a young striker who's looking to kick-start his career." Easter has gone on loan to Plymouth with a view to a permanent move.

Lambert hurt by crushing defeat
Wycombe Wanderers manager Paul Lambert admitted his side were hurt by the crushing 6-0 defeat to Stockport. "We did OK in spells in the first half and coming back from two goals down was achievable, but we've never been beaten like that before and we're all hurting. "The pitch was playable at the start but got worse as the game went on and the players could have been injured. It was never going to be a proper game. "The game is all about results and the board have been brilliant to me."

Coach Heald to leave Wycombe job
Wycombe youth team coach Greg Heald is leaving the club at the end of the year to take up a teaching job. Heald joined the League One side in the summer to replace Ian Culverhouse, who had been appointed head coach of the first team squad. Richard Dobson, the head of Wycombe's centre of excellence will take over from Heald. Martin Guy will join the club as boss of the Under-15 and Under-16 teams until the end of the season. Managing director Steve Hayes told the club website: "I would like to put on record our gratitude for the excellent job Greg has done with the youth team. "He has set the foundations that will stand the players in good stead during their apprenticeships."

Lambert eyes vital Wycombe match
Wycombe boss Paul Lambert believes the Boxing Day match against Brentford is a vital one for his side. The Chairboys are just outside the play-off places after their 2-1 win against Macclesfield. "You have to keep on people's coat tails. I travelled to see Brentford at Milton Keynes and they are a tough team. It won't be easy," said Lambert. "We started slowly against Macclesfield but in the second half we were excellent," he added.

Wycombe sign Dons striker Knight
Wycombe Wanderers have signed striker Leon Knight for an undisclosed fee from League Two leaders Milton Keynes Dons. The 25-year-old, who joined the Dons just under a year ago, has signed an 18-month contract at Adams Park. His arrival will help fill the gap left by Jermaine Easter's £210,000 move to Championship side Plymouth. "I've been looking for a striker with bags of pace to complement Scott McGleish and John Sutton," Wycombe boss Paul Lambert told the club website. "He's proved that he can score goals, not only at this level, but a couple of divisions higher as well." The former Chelsea trainee has also played for QPR, Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday, Brighton, Swansea and Barnsley. He could make his Wycombe debut at Mansfield on Tuesday.

Stockley in MLS trial with Dallas
Wycombe full-back Sam Stockley is to travel to America for a trial match with Major League Soccer club Dallas. The 30-year-old former Colchester defender will fly out on Wednesday, train with Dallas for the rest of the week and play in a game on Saturday. However, Wanderers boss Paul Lambert said: "Sam is still very much our player and part of my plans. "His contract doesn't run out until June and no decision has been made as to whether that will be extended."

Wycombe name Taylor as new boss
Wycombe Wanderers have appointed former England Under-21 coach Peter Taylor as their new manager. Taylor, who has been out of work since leaving Stevenage last month, succeeds Paul Lambert in the Adams Park hotseat. "I've got so much enthusiasm still to be a manager and I love being on the training ground," said Taylor, 55. "I've learnt from every club I've worked at whether I've had success or failure. I'm delighted with this opportunity," he added. As well as his role with England Under-21s, Taylor also took caretaker charge of the full England side for one game in 2000. His club management career has seen him enjoy spells in charge of Southend, Gillingham, Leicester, Brighton, Hull and Crystal Palace. And Taylor said he was confident of the club mounting a promotion challenge next season. "I think I can help players improve and I think we will have an organised team," he said. "The supporters will enjoy seeing the side play. I want a good relationship with players and supporters and I want a good relationship between players and supporters. "You've always got a chance if everybody goes for the same thing, if we all pull in the same direction we have a real good chance." Lambert took over at Adams Park in July 2006 and led the club to the Carling Cup semi-final in his first season. He resigned as Chairboys boss on 20 May following the 2-1 aggregate defeat by Stockport in the League Two play-off semi-finals. The 38-year-old claimed the time was right to move on following the club's failure to win promotion to League One.

McGleish re-signs for Northampton
Northampton Town have re-signed former favourite Scott McGleish on a month-long loan from Wycombe Wanderers. The 34-year-old striker returns to Sixfields where he was twice voted player of the year. During his previous spell with the Cobblers he scored 54 times in 126 starts, before leaving in January 2007. McGleish will be available for the FA Cup tie against Leeds and his loan spell will end on 25 November following the league match, also against Leeds. The London-born front man has a good record of scoring in the lower leagues and had netted 34 times in 69 starts for Wycombe. After moving to Barnet in 1997, McGleish scored 42 goals in 123 starts during a three-and-a-half year spell at Underhill.

Watford sign defender Williamson
Watford have signed Wycombe Wanderers centre-back Mike Williamson for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Vicarage Road. Wycombe manager Peter Taylor told the club's website: "Mike was out of contract in the summer and expressed a desire to play in the Championship. "I am obviously disappointed to lose him but I would like to thank him for his efforts and I hope it turns out to be a good move for him." Williamson began his career as a trainee with Torquay United before joining Southampton in 2001. After failing to break into the first-team at St Mary's, he moved to Adams Park in May 2005 and went on to make more than 150 appearances for Wanderers, playing 21 times this season. League One side Colchester - managed by ex-Wycombe boss Paul Lambert - had a bid for the player rejected earlier this month.

Striker Beavon signs for Wycombe
Wycombe Wanderers have signed striker Stuart Beavon on loan from Blue Square Premier side Weymouth. The deal keeps the 24-year-old at Adams Park until the end of the season, with the option of turning the move into a permanent one. Wanderers manager Peter Taylor told the club's official website: "I know a number of clubs were chasing him so I'm delighted to get him. "I'm confident that he can handle the step up to League Two." Taylor added: "He can play in a number of positions, he's like an old-fashioned inside forward. "He's an excellent footballer, hard working and a very good finisher."

Wycombe and Taylor part company
Wycombe Wanderers have parted company with manager Peter Taylor by mutual consent after their disappointing start to the League One season. Taylor led the Chairboys to promotion from League Two last season but they are second from bottom in the table and have not won since 29 August. His assistant Junior Lewis has also left the Adams Park club. Head of youth development Richard Dobson will take caretaker charge for Saturday's game with Gillingham. Taylor took over in May 2008 and led them to promotion in his first season, but results this term have cost him his job. The 56-year-old has had a mixed managerial career, leading Gillingham, Brighton, Hull and Wycombe to promotions but having less illustrious spells at Leicester, Crystal Palace and Stevenage Borough. He has also managed England Under-21s and been the country's senior caretaker boss for a friendly with Italy in 2000, when he made David Beckham England's captain for the first time. Chairboys owner Steve Hayes told the club website: "Peter is an honourable man and he knew that it was time to move on. "He came to me and said he was very disappointed with the way the season has begun and understood that things had to change. "He leaves with our thanks and best wishes for the future and I want to place on record our gratitude for the excellent job he did for us last season in getting us promoted. "Wycombe have a reputation for appointing good managers and I'm sure we'll get plenty of high calibre applicants. "Peter's successor will inherit an excellent squad of players and with 35 games still to play we're confident that our league position will improve." Meanwhile, Wycombe have released defender TJ Moncur from his contract. The 22-year-old joined from Fulham in January but only made six appearances for the Chairboys.

Wycombe appoint Waddock as boss
Wycombe have appointed Aldershot manager Gary Waddock as their new boss. Wanderers parted company with boss Peter Taylor last week and have moved quickly to appoint the 47-year-old as well as coach Martin Kuhl. Waddock said: "This has been the hardest decision I have ever had to make. I have had a fantastic time at Aldershot Town. "The players and the backroom staff have played such a massive part in the success that we have had." Cheltenham's Martin Allen had previously ruled himself out of contention to replace Taylor, saying he "had no interest in Wycombe". Waddock joined Aldershot in May 2007, leading the Shots to promotion from the Blue Square Premier back to the Football League in his first season, as well as winning the Setanta Shield. After a mid-table finish in League Two last season, the Shots are currently sitting in sixth place. Wycombe, in 23rd place in League One, have been without a manager since the departure last Friday of Taylor, who had led the Chairboys to promotion in May.

Wycombe boss Gary Waddock poised for Aldershot return
Wycombe manager Gary Waddock is unsure what reaction he will receive when he makes his return to Aldershot for Saturday's League Two clash. The Chairboys boss left the Shots in October last year after two-and-a-half years at the EBB Stadium. He told BBC Surrey: "It's going to be strange going back, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club. "I really don't know what the reception will be. The fans are fantastic and they played a big part in our success." He added: "I had a fantastic time at the football club and am pleased with what we achieved. An inquiry went in for Marvin Morgan and it was for Aldershot to make a decision as to whether they wanted to sell or not Meanwhile Waddock has defended his interest in some of his former players, having signed Andy Sandell and Dave Winfield on free transfers in the summer. "All I can say is there are some good players at Aldershot," Waddock continued. "The two players who came this way were both out of contract. "The players had the decision to make. Others I've shown an interest in are because they're quality players. "An inquiry went in for Marvin Morgan and it was for Aldershot to make a decision as to whether they wanted to sell or not. "They decided not to, so we've moved on."
