Weymouth vision for new stadium
Weymouth have outlined proposals for a state-of-the-art 6,000-seater stadium. The project will cost £7m-£10m, with the bulk of funding provided by the redevelopment of the Terras' existing Wessex Stadium site at Radipole. The Blue Square Premier outfit's chairman Malcolm Curtis told Radio Solent: "This stadium here is as rotten as a pear. "It is completely unsustainable and is only used 23 afternoons a year and that cannot be right as a modern facility." He added: "We need to have a facility that embraces the community seven days a week, every hour of the day and that's what I believe this stadium delivers on." The club will submit planning permission in early 2009, and completion is scheduled just a few months ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games. Weymouth and Portland will be hosting the Olympic sailing regatta during the Games.

Cherries priced out of Beavon bid
League Two strugglers Bournemouth have cooled their interest in signing Weymouth's transfer-listed striker Stuart Beavon. The former Didcot frontman is out of contract at the Wessex Stadium at the end of the season and was put up for sale by the Terras last week. "Stuart is a good player, but Weymouth are asking too much for him," Cherries boss Jimmy Quinn told Radio Solent. "They want to get him off the wage bill, but we can't pay a fee." Weymouth chairman Malcolm Curtis said: "If someone is prepared to make a serious offer for Stuart, and I mean serious offer, then we'd be foolish not to look at it. "If they don't, then the board will be more than happy to re-negotiate with him. He's a popular lad, and we'd be sad to see him go. "You've got to look to maximise your assets though, and do what's right for the football club." The 24-year-old, who joined the Terras in 2007, has scored four goals in 14 games this season.

Weymouth suspend manager Hollins
Weymouth manager John Hollins has been suspended from his duties by the club with immediate effect. The Blue Square Premier side will launch an investigation into whether there has been a breach of contract. Assistant manager Alan Lewer will take charge of team affairs, starting with Saturday's home match against Wrexham. Hollins, who has been in charge at the Dorset club since January, confirmed to BBC Radio Solent that he has been placed on "gardening leave". A statement on the club website read: "In order to ensure that the matter is dealt with fairly and without prejudice it is not possible for the club to disclose any further detail at this stage. "It is anticipated that the process will be complete within the next 28 days, following which a further statement will be made."

Striker Beavon signs for Wycombe
Wycombe Wanderers have signed striker Stuart Beavon on loan from Blue Square Premier side Weymouth. The deal keeps the 24-year-old at Adams Park until the end of the season, with the option of turning the move into a permanent one. Wanderers manager Peter Taylor told the club's official website: "I know a number of clubs were chasing him so I'm delighted to get him. "I'm confident that he can handle the step up to League Two." Taylor added: "He can play in a number of positions, he's like an old-fashioned inside forward. "He's an excellent footballer, hard working and a very good finisher."

Weymouth players set to walk out
Weymouth boss Alan Lewer has revealed the players are ready to quit the Blue Square Premier club on Monday. The players, who previously issued a 14-day demand to be paid, have not received any wages at all in 2009. Lewer, who has backed his players, told BBC Radio Solent: "Unless the players are paid by midnight on Monday then they are gone." Virtually the entire first team refused to play on Saturday, and the club's youth team lost 9-0 to Rushden. That match was also due to be the last of Lewer's reign as boss as he had already told the board that he would be leaving, but after Saturday's defeat he said he would not leave the club in the mire and would try to bring players in. Chief executive Gary Calder is also quitting the Terras. And for some time, Weymouth's players have been allowed to leave the club if they receive offers of work. The club, which has debts of about £300,000, has issued a million shares, worth 50 pence each, in an effort to raise funds. But if that strategy is unsuccessful the Terras could face administration or liquidation.

Relegation may be helpful - Lewer
Weymouth boss Alan Lewer says his side would be better off being relegated from the Blue Square Premier this season and then regrouping. The Terras lost 3-0 at Barrow on Sunday - their ninth successive league defeat. Lewer told Radio Solent: "It maybe better for us to go down and come back stronger in the future." Weymouth were taken over recently but have about £500,000 in debts and have also said they will be going back to part-time status next season. Lewer added: "Sometimes you have to look at clubs who have . I know people don't like you saying that. "When you have people working on budgets of £17,500 a week from the league below and we work on £4,400 a week, then really you're not going to do it at this level. "The worst budget in this league is probably £7,500 - £8,000. We had a budget of £7,500 when we were six points off the play-offs. That was a magnificent achievement. "Sometimes it's not just about the money though. It's about organisation and work-rate." Weymouth have been forced to field a youth team in recent matches.
