West Ham capture defender Scaloni
Deportivo La Coruna defender Lionel Scaloni has joined West Ham on loan for the rest of the season.
The 27-year-old has failed to hold down a first-team place this season under coach Deportivo Joaquin Caparros.
But the Argentine international has a wealth of experience and completes boss Alan Pardew's search for a right-back.
Scaloni has signed after a move for Barcelona's Gabri fell through and is aiming to win a World Cup place in his country's squad.
Scaloni's agent and father Angel said: "The president (Augusto Cesar Lendoiro) was convinced by this particular offer and it satisfies the player on a sporting level as he will have the chance to play.
"He was very happy in La Coruna, where the people treated him very well, but the life of a professional footballer has these things and he did not have much chance under Caparros at Deportivo."
Scaloni joined Deportivo in 1998 and has played more than 250 games for the Spanish outfit, including more than 50 Champions League matches.
