Waddock has fond memories
Gary Waddock cheered QPR to promotion at Sheffield Wednesday two years ago - now he's going back as Rangers manager. Caretaker boss Waddock was on the Rangers coaching staff when he sat in the stands with the other supporters at Hillsborough as the west Londoners clinched promotion from League One in 2004. Two years later, Waddock is in charge of the first team - and he is warning them not to be distracted by memories of the 3-1 win in May 2004. "I was standing behind the goal for that game," Waddock recalled. "Some of the squad players and I travelled up in a minibus, and I had one hell of a day. "It is a lovely memory - but we have to remember that it is only a memory. It's no good our thinking about that and then failing to put on a performance on Saturday. "We have to win and make it a memorable journey home - and only then can we cast our minds back to 2004."
