Huddersfield 2-2 Tranmere
Veteran striker Andy Booth was both hero and villain for Huddersfield in a 2-2 draw with Tranmere. Booth struck early on with a thunderous volley but let the visitors back into it before half time when he presented Chris Greenacre with a chance to level. Tranmere went ahead early in the second half when Town failed to clear a free-kick and Greenacre netted again. Danny Schofield secured a draw for the home side by slotting home a penalty after Chris Brandon was brought down. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Huddersfield: Glennon, Holdsworth, Mirfin, McIntosh, Adams, Brandon (Hudson 83), Worthington, Collins, Schofield, Booth, Taylor-Fletcher (Abbott 71). Tranmere v Rotherham
Tranmere will be without keeper John Achterberg and defender Chris McCready at home against Rotherham. Both sustained injuries in the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but Rovers boss Ronnie Moore insists his squad has the strength to cope. Rotherham could be without Eugen Bopp and Gregor Robertson for the New Year's Day clash after they suffered knocks against Leyton Orient on Saturday. However, Ian Sharps returns to the side after serving a a one-match ban.

Forest defender back at Tranmere
Tranmere have signed Nottingham Forest defender John Thompson on loan for the second time this season. The 25-year-old made seven appearances for Rovers during the autumn, before being recalled and playing five times for Forest over the festive season. However, he will now spend the rest of the season at Prenton Park - which takes him until his City Ground contract expores. The Republic of Ireland international has made 147 appearances for Forest.

Greenacre signs Tranmere contract
Tranmere striker Chris Greenacre has signed a new two-year deal to keep him at the club until the summer of 2009. The 29-year-old, who scored 18 times in his first campaign with Rovers last season, is again the club's top scorer this term with 19 goals. Greenacre signed the new deal despite interest from Championship clubs. "I said when I signed originally that I was here for the long haul and I'm pleased the club want me to stay," Greenacre said.

Tranmere sign Huddersfield star
Tranmere Rovers have signed midfielder Adnan Ahmed from Huddersfield on a two-year contract. The 22-year old has spent the last seven years at Huddersfield having started his early football career at the Manchester United Academy. Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore told the club website: "He's is a great addition to the squad. He's an enthusiastic and talented young midfielder. Ahmed added: "This is a new challenge and I can't wait for next season."

Achterberg is staying at Tranmere
John Achterberg has signed a new deal at Tranmere, six days after it was announced that he had been released. After contract negotiations had broken down, Tranmere had said last week that the keeper would be one of four players that would be leaving Prenton Park. The club then issued a statement saying they "would not be forced into an unreasonable bidding war" for him. However, Achterberg, 35, has now put pen to paper on a two-year contract that will involve playing and coaching. "The negotiations were complicated, but where there's a will, there's a way," chairman Lorraine Rogers told the club website. "We kept on talking with John over the last week and created a new coaching and playing role for him that suits everyone." Achterberg added: "We couldn't agree terms last week due to my failed medical and contractual issues, but I'm pleased we have now reached an agreement. "I also hope to prove my fitness and be involved on the playing side." League Two side Chester's chairman Stephen Vaughan recently revealed that they were interested in Achterberg. Tranmere have appointed Northern Ireland Under-17 coach Kenny Shiels as their new head of youth and centre of excellence manager. Shiels will take up his new role on 11 June.

Tranmere reject Leeds' Davies bid
Tranmere Rovers have turned down a third bid from Leeds United for winger Steve Davies. The club hope to secure Davies, 19, on a new contract at Prenton Park but are still awaiting a response and admit the ball is in the player's court. "Clubs have much less power than they used to, even with younger players, and there is only so much we can do," boss Ronnie Moore told Tranmere's website. Davies has made over 50 appearances for coming through Rovers's youth scheme.

Tranmere's Johnston joins Bangor
Tranmere defender Michael Johnston has joined League of Wales side Bangor City on loan until January 2008. The 19-year-old has been a regular in the reserves over the past two seasons but has yet play for the first-team. Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore told the club website: "Michael will gain some much needed experience at Bangor. "The League of Wales is more competitive and higher standard than reserve team football so hopefully he will return to us a better player."

Tranmere's Mullin has operation
Tranmere midfielder John Mullin has had an operation to have a bone spur removed from his ankle. The problem had prevented Mullin from playing this season but the 32-year-old will now be back in contention in between four and six weeks. "Everything has gone well and it will be like having a new player when he comes back," said manager Ronnie Moore. Mullin started 42 games for Tranmere last season after joining the club from Rotherham United.

Tranmere net Bristol City winger
Tranmere Rovers have signed Bristol City winger Jennison Myrie-Williams on a month's loan. Rovers have been given permission to play the 19-year-old in the FA Cup when they face Bradford on 1 December for their second round tie. He had a three month loan stint at Cheltenham earlier this season and scored once in 13 games for the Robins. Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore told his club's website: "He is left footed and will bring balance to our side."

Taylor extends Tranmere loan stay
Tranmere Rovers have extended the loan stay of Blackburn Rovers defender Andrew Taylor for a second month. Taylor, 21, who is with the fifth loan club of his career, has made six appearances for the League One side. Boss Ronnie Moore told Tranmere's website: "He has been excellent for us so far and we are pleased he has agreed to stay for a second month. "He can tackle, has pace, can pass and likes to get forward so he is a great addition to the side."

Tranmere sign Blackburn's Taylor
Tranmere have clinched the permanent signing of defender Andy Taylor from Blackburn for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old was in the second month of a loan spell at Prenton Park and was thought to be a target for Blackpool. "He has turned down a move to the Championship to come here, which shows the level of our ambition," Rovers boss Ronnie Moore told his club's website. "Andy is a quality left-back who attacks as well as he defends, which is rare today."

Moore slams poor first-half show
Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore was furious with his side's first-half performance at Bournemouth on Monday. Rovers lost 2-1 to the League One strugglers and the result has seen them slip out of the play-off places. Moore told SSB: "To be a goal down inside the first minute to a side playing a 4-5-1 formation at home shows we weren't up for it. "For supporters to have travelled for five, six hours and see that first-half performance is totally unacceptable." Rovers will look to get back in to the play-off places when Swindon visit Prenton Park on Friday.

Rogers upset with Davies tribunal
Tranmere chairman Lorraine Rogers is disappointed with the tribunal process that saw midfielder Steve Davies leave for Derby County. Davies signed for the Rams in June, and the tribunal decided on Tuesday that Rovers will get a fee of between £275,000 and £725,000 for him. Rogers told Radio Merseyside: "It's not the nicest process to go though. I found it quite bizarre and intriguing. "I'm really saddened a young player of ours put us in that position." Davies was at Tranmere since he was released by Liverpool as a 14-year-old. Rogers, who has decided to leave the club at the end of the season, feels that the situation could have been handled better by the player. She said: "I've seen Brian Little and Ronnie Moore put an awful lot of time and effort making him into the player he is now with the potential he has. "I felt really saddened that he hadn't done more to make sure that he was going to a club that would pay us fair compensation. I just feel very let down by the player."

Moore keen to extend Shotton stay
Tranmere Rovers boss Ronnie Moore hopes to extend teenage defender Ryan Shotton's stay at Prenton Park. The 19-year-old has played four times and scored one goal during an initial one-month loan from Stoke City. Moore told Radio Merseyside: "He is a super player. I've spoken to (Stoke boss) Tony Pulis and I don't think extending the loan will be a problem. "He wants to be here and he is still learning - so that shows what a good player he is going to be." Shotton scored as Tranmere won 2-1 at Huddersfield on Saturday to record their first away win of the season. In his time at Prenton Park he has played at full-back and centre-half and says he has really enjoyed the experience. "The lads are brilliant, they're all funny and they talk to me on the pitch, which makes you feel really welcome," Shotton explained. "I'm only young and, with Stoke being in the Premier League, I need experience. If I need to go out on loan and get experience then that's what I'll do - Tranmere is a great place to do that."
