Toon Old Boy Heading To QPR?
Former Toon striker Michael Chopra was "gutted" missing out on the chance to play against his old club on Saturday, and some reports suggest he is unhappy at the Stadium of Sh***. Being down in the pecking order at Sunderland has got him back to the situation he hated at St James' Park, and he even said last week "Newcastle almost ruined my career." Obviously a man with a very short memory ... because Newcastle brought him through the junior ranks and turned him into what he is today. But if couldn't make the grade at Newcastle ... and is obviously struggling at Sunderland ... is he good enough for the Premiership? The snub from Roy Keane on Saturday has revived talk of Chopra moving to QPR. According to reports in London, megga-bucks Rangers are hoping to lure Chopra on loan, with a view to a permanent move in the summer. Sunderland paid £5m for the 24-year-old former Newcastle striker in July 2007, and they won't sell him for less than £4m, which is well short of QPR's valuation. And the player has made it known "I am happy at Sunderland".
