Ticketless Rangers fans' warning
Rangers' security chief Lawrence McIntyre has warned fans intending to travel to Villarreal without a ticket they will be jeopardising their safety. The return leg of the Champions League tie will be played at El Madrigal, where the capacity is only 23,000, with Rangers allocated 3,000 tickets. McIntyre told Rangers' website: "Space here is at a premium. "Fans without tickets should not compromise the safety of fellow fans by adding to congestion at turnstiles." McIntyre directed the same message to supporters "who have acquired tickets for the opposition side of the ground but then have reservations on the night about going there". He stressed: "Don't place yourself or other fans at risk by going to Villarreal without a ticket. "Avoid buying a ticket too from any unauthorised source. It's likely you'll be picking up a forgery and possibly leaving yourself nowhere in Villarreal to watch the televised match." The last train service from Villarreal leaves before the end of the game and McIntyre says watching the match in local bars is not ideal either. "This is a particularly awkward venue. Villarreal is an industrial town about 30 miles north of Valencia and there doesn't appear to be the infrastructure by way of bars and public transport to support an excess of travelling football fans. "I have reached this conclusion after a personal site visit and having received post-match accounts of Villarreal's recent fixtures with Celtic, Everton, Manchester United and Middlesbrough."
