Ten-man QPR topple City to banish the blues
Queen's Park Rangers may still be reeling from the sacking of their manager Iain Dowie amid reports that co-owner and chairman Flavio Briatore wanted to pick the team, but they caused an upset last night by beating Birmingham City with a 54th-minute goal by Samuel Di Carmine.
The victory was more notable as the Loftus Road club's defender Mikele Leigertwood was shown a straight red by the referee Stuart Attwell for a foul on Lee Carsley during added time in the first half.
It was a night to forget for Birmingham, who were not only knocked off the top of Championship after Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Swansea, but also had full-back Stuart Parnaby carried off in the 10th minute.
