Sparta appeal against Uefa ruling
Sparta Prague have appealed against Uefa's decision that their Champions League game against Arsenal should be played behind partially closed doors. Sparta received the punishment, as well as a £21,744 fine, for the racist conduct of their fans during the game with Ajax on 14 September. If they lose the appeal, about a third of the 25,000-capacity Sparta Stadium will be closed. Arsenal will face Sparta in their next Champions League game on 18 October. Uefa's decision was made after supporters directed monkey chants towards Ajax defender Ryan Babel.
