Sousa to restore confidence in Flavio's Hoops after Watford
Hoops coach Paulo Sousa admitted he has to restore the team’s shattered confidence after his debut ended in a 3-0 defeat at Watford. Sousa, a former Juventus and Borussia Dortmund star, was surprisingly handed his first club coaching job by Hoops top man and team picker co-owner Flavio Briatore this week. But the Portuguese legend suffered a rude awakening at Vicarage Road. Hoops were three goals down by half-time to a Watford team who had lost their previous five matches and are without a permanent manager. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Sousa’s team finished with 10 men after Fitz Hall was sent off. Sousa insisted he doesn’t feel under pressure to deliver immediate promotion to his demanding bosses, but he knows he will have to work hard to raise spirits after this setback. “I have been here for two days but I cannot change everything,” Sousa said. “There is no pressure, I am here to build a medium, long-term project, to build a solid base to go into the Premier League. “I have a contract, I know what I need to do. I believe in these players and I know the results are coming. “I do not think the players have confidence within themselves and we need to work very hard. “To change these things we need to work really hard. I believe slowly it will come.”
