Sousa sets sights on top six
Paulo Sousa is hoping to lead Queens Park Rangers into the play-offs this season. The Portuguese coach took charge at Loftus Road in November, replacing the ousted Iain Dowie. He inherited a side enduring a tough time in the second tier, with the club struggling to live up to lofty expectations. However, a recent upturn in fortunes sees Rangers currently sitting 10th in the Championship table, four points adrift of the top six, and well placed to mount a promotion push. "Taking over midway through the season is not easy, but we have confidence in our methods," Sousa told calciomercato.it. "It is important for us to stay in touch with the play-offs and we must maintain our belief." Sousa also revealed that he enjoys a good relationship with the club's co-owner Flavio Briatore, with the Formula One magnate renowned for his all-encompassing desire to be the best. "There is a good understanding between us and my goals and ideas are similar to his," Sousa added. "Fortunately we have been doing well and we have brought about a different mentality. "In time we have become a difficult team to beat, which concedes fewer goals. "The team have experienced some difficulties in the last 13 games, but we have lost only one."
