Simek to start against Hoops
Frankie Simek is bidding to make up for lost time as he gets set for his first Hillsborough start in almost a year against QPR tomorrow.
The full back was pleased with his comeback in the 1-1 draw at Southampton but feels that he needs more games to rediscover the full sharpness that he was showing before he injured his ankle at Crystal Palace last December 15.
"It was unbelievable just to be playing again," the USA international told The Star.
"I'm not as match fit as I'd like to be but the only way I'm going to get back to being match fit again is by playing games.
"The pace and everything else about first-team football is totally different, compared to the reserves.
"It's been nearly a year out. I've missed a lot of games. I just want to get back to playing like I was doing before the injury."
Simek felt that he could have done more to try to prevent Southampton's goal; he was beaten by Bradley Wright-Phillips before the winger shot home.
"I should have done better," he said. "That was a mistake. All in all, I was happy with the way I played. I felt better as the game went on."
