Shrews boss demands more quality
Shrewsbury manager Gary Peters says his side are paying the price for a lack of quality in the final third following their 2-1 home defeat against Swindon. He said: \"Our home form is not what it should be. When we play the top sides we've got to step up to the plate. \"We've had 14 games where we've been as good as the opposition but it's about quality. We weren't good enough to break them down. \"It's hard to take that we've got nothing to show for our efforts.\"

Hurst extends loan stay with Bury
Shrewsbury striker Glynn Hurst has extended his loan stay at Bury with a view to a permanent move when the transfer window re-opens in January. Hurst's initial month's stay with the Shakers ended after their win over Boston United last Saturday. The former Chesterfield and Notts County striker scored in that game to take his tally to six in five matches. Hurst's form had prompted Bury fans to urge the club to try and hang onto the 30-year-old.

Shrewsbury take Shearer on loan
Shrewsbury Town manager Gary Peters has taken Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Scott Shearer on a three-month loan. The 25-year-old Scot has arrived as cover for the injured Ryan Esson, with Chris Neal being recalled from his loan spell by Preston. Peters told his club's website: \"He has played lots of games and is a very decent keeper.\" The ex-Coventry keeper will challenge Chris Mackenzie for a place in the Shrews' first team. Shearer has played three games for Rovers this season and 53 in all since his free transfer last summer. Torquay 0-0 Shrewsbury
Goalkeeper Nathan Abbey was Torquay's hero as his first-half penalty save helped them secure their first point after five successive league defeats. Abbey's mistake had handed a 1-0 win to Stockport last weekend but he brilliantly saved from Ben Davies after Torquay skipper Lee Thorpe handled. Shrews scorers make Peters proud
Shrewsbury Town boss Gary Peters was impressed by his goalscorers in Tuesday's 2-1 Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Yeovil. \"Michael Symes did well for the goal but you get more than that out of him,\" Peters told SSB. \"You get good hold up play, he's skilful, can lay balls off and is a talent. There's a lot in front of him. \"It was good to see Dave Edwards get a goal, he's the best at this club for getting across his marker like that.\"

Shrews performance pleases Peters

Winger Keith leaves Shrews early
Winger Joe Keith has returned to Leyton Orient after cutting short his one-month loan spell with Shrewsbury. Shrews boss Gary Peters told the club website: \"Joe has had a few problems which have meant that he couldn't train with us in Shrewsbury. \"He has a young son who has been upset when Joe has been in Shrewsbury so it looks like a long-term problem. \"Joe has offered to continue training with Orient and play for us on match days but that's not acceptable to us.\" However, the rules governing loan moves mean that Keith will not be available for selection for Orient until 28 November - when his originally agreed loan period would have concluded.
