Rodgers' hopes hampered by injury Striker Luke Rodgers has been prevented from joining up with Crewe Alexandra for their pre-season training camp in Portugal because of an ankle injury.
The out-of-contract 23-year-old is trying to earn a deal at Gresty Road having rejected a new offer from his previous club Shrewsbury Town.
Rodgers is expected to link up with the Alex squad for training on Friday as he seeks to impress boss Dario Gradi.
Gradi has already completed a deal for prolific Wrexham hitman Juan Ugarte.

Howie hopes to land Boston deal Goalkeeper Scott Howie hopes he has done enough to secure a deal at Boston.
Howie, who was released by Shrewsbury at the end of last season, has spent pre-season at York Street and will seek contract talks with boss Steve Evans.
"I am hopeful of staying. I'm planning to speak to the management and am keen to get things sorted as soon as I can," Howie, 33, told the Lincolnshire Echo.
He has started almost 450 League games in a career including spells with Motherwell, Reading and Bristol Rovers.

Thompson re-signs for Shrewsbury Shrewsbury Town have re-signed former Chesterfield goalkeeper Glyn Thompson.
Thompson, who started his career as a trainee with the Shrews, has signed a 12-month deal after impressing manager Gary Peters during pre-season.
"We needed to get another keeper in, one who will push Joe Hart all the way," Peters told the club website.
Thompson, 24, moved to Fulham from Shrewsbury in October, 1999 before spells with Mansfield, on loan, Northampton and Chesterfield.

Rodgers signs two-year Crewe deal Luke Rodgers has signed a two-year contract at Crewe after rejecting terms at former club Shrewsbury.
Manager Dario Gradi is delighted to capture the 23-year-old striker.
He said: "Luke has been busting a gut to be involved ever since he arrived on trial. He's a confident lad and he's impressed me with his attitude."
Gradi has also announced that Mark Rivers, Crewe's experienced 29-year-old midfield man, can now leave Gresty Road on a free transfer.

Cowan injury blow for Shrewsbury Shrewsbury defender Gavin Cowan is facing up to two months on the sidelines with a fractured cheekbone.
Cowan, 24, was injured in a clash in the Shrews' 1-1 draw against Boston in the opening week of the season.
The former Canvey Island centre-back, who moved to Gay Meadow in March, has undergone surgery to repair the damage.
And Cowan now faces a recovery period of around eight weeks before being available again to boss Gary Peters.

Shrewsbury 3-2 Brighton(After extra-time) Substitute Jay Denny was League Two Shrewsbury's two-goal hero as they dumped Brighton out after extra-time.
Mark McCammon's spectacular header from Sebastien Carole's cross put the Seagulls ahead before Jamie Tolley set up Mark Stallard to equalise.
Brighton looked to have booked their second-round place when substitute Jake Robinson swept home McCammon's cross.
But American Denny sent the tie into the extra period before converting Colin McMenamin's right-wing cross.

Leyton Orient 0-1 Shrewsbury Colin McMenamin scored the only goal as Shrewsbury won away for the first time this season.
McMenamin converted from the penalty spot after just three minutes following a rash challenge by defender John Mackie on Dave Edwards.
Orient pushed for an equaliser and Jamie Tolley made a goal-line clearance to keep the Shrews in front.
The Shrews should have doubled their advantage late on but McMenamin shot tamely with only Glyn Garner to beat.

Peters rues missed opportunities Gary Peters felt Shrewsbury were unlucky not to leave Torquay with at least a point following the 2-1 defeat.
The Shrews boss explained: "We went to try and win the game and had a lot of possession and took the game to them, but we gave away two sloppy goals.
"And we should have had a penalty in the first half - the only person in the stadium who didn't see it was the referee and it was a crazy decision.
"It was an attacking game but we just couldn't get the goal back."

Shrewsbury 2-2 Barnet Ben Herd headed a last-minute equaliser for Shrewsbury in a bad-tempered match which saw both sides reduced to 10 men.
The home side went ahead after 12 minutes from Colin McMenamin's penalty, but Nick Bailey quickly levelled from the spot after Neil Ashton's handball.
Louis Soares struck for Barnet, before Shrewsbury's Jamie Tolley was dismissed for a wild tackle on Bailey.
Barnet's Ismail Yakubu was sent off for a foul on Ashton before the Herd nodded home from close range at the end.

Jackson hails Shrews boss Peters Mark Jackson says the influence of manager Gary Peters is one of the main reasons he decided to join Shrewsbury on a three-month loan from Preston.
The 19-year-old was coached by Peters at North End and he told the Shrews' website: "Gary has been great for me.
"He brought me in at Preston and helped me out during my time there and even recently he's been helping me out.
"I know Kelvin Langmead and Ciaran Lyng from Preston and if all goes well I hope to be playing first-team games."

Walton parts company with Shrews Defender Dave Walton has left Shrewsbury Town after failing to overcome a long term knee injury.
The 32-year-old, who returned to Shrews on a free transfer in 2004, is likely to pursue a career away from football after completing a training course.
"Dave has done a great job for the club and has always given everything," said Shrews boss Gary Peters.
"Dave hopefully isn't going to be injured much playing part time but we'll help him any way we can."

Shrewsbury defender wins appeal Shrewsbury Town defender Ben Herd has won his appeal to the Football Association over the red card he was shown in the 2-2 draw with Carlisle.
Herd's one-match suspension has been withdrawn after his claim for wrongful dismissal was upheld by the FA.
He will now be available for Saturday's trip to Darlington.
On the game, boss Gary Peters had said: "When we went 2-1 up, I would have taken the draw. It was a great result with the injuries we've had this week."

Leslie signs one-year Shrews deal Shrewsbury Town manager Gary Peters has signed midfielder Steve Leslie, 18, on a one-year professional contract.
"Steve's done well at left-back in the reserves but is more of a left-winger and very exciting at times," he said.
"He's one that needs another year to see if he can come through. He was on the bench the other day at Carlisle and that was a good start for him.
"Steve has deserved to get near to the first team and is one of those kids I'd like to see how he does."

Defensive tactics please Peters Shrewsbury Town boss Gary Peters feels opposition sides are paying his players a compliment by adopting defensive tactics at Gay Meadow.
The Shrews have won seven, drawn eight and lost three League Two fixtures at home so far this season.

Wycombe 2-0 Shrewsbury Goals from Russell Martin and Matt Bloomfield earned Wycombe a vital win over Shrewsbury.
Good work by Tommy Mooney set Bloomfield up for the chance to score his fifth league goal of the season from inside the box.
Mooney had a hand in the second, when his header was seized on by substitute Martin to fire home from close-range.
The victory sees Wycombe draw level on points with Carlisle at the top of League Two.
