Seven former QPR players feature in play offs
Terrell Forbes started and Matthew Rose sat on the bench as Yeovil thrashed Nottingham Forest. Leon Knight, Ademola Bankole and Lloyd Dyer all played a part as Martin Allen's MK Dons side crashed out at home to Shrewsbury. Yeovil were 2-0 down from the first leg against Nottingham Forest and few gave them a prayer travelling to the hot favourites tonight but they won 5-2 after extra time, 5-4 on aggregate with Terrell Forbes in defence and Matthew Rose on the bench. Matthew Rose was released by John Gregory in January after nine years at Loftus Road and has since made nine appearances for Yeovil. Forbes made 128 starts for Rangers and won the Player of the Year award in 2001/02 after signing on a free transfer from West Ham. He left Rangers under a bit of a cloud after being accused of a sexual assault and has since played for Grimsby and Oldham. Russel Slade, who took him to Blundell Park, signed him for Yeovil last summer and he has made 48 appearances this season in all competitions. At the National Hockey Stadium MK Dons were beaten 2-1 by Shrewsbury and their season is now over. The Dons are managed by former QPR player Martin Allen and featured four former QPR players on their team sheet tonight. Ademola Bankole signed for QPR from Crewe with then manager Ray Harford calling him "the black Burce Grobbelar". He made one horrific substitute appearance for Rangers in a home game against Tranmere before mercifully being released back to Crewe. He has since played for Martin Allen at Barnet, Brentford and now MK Dons. Lee Harper signed for QPR from Arsenal in 1997 for £125k and made 132 appearances over four seasons before being released on a free transfer to Walsall following QPR's relegation. He has since played for Northampton and signed for MK Dons on a permanent basis last summer after a succesful loan. Lloyd Dyer made 15 appearances for QPR on loan from West Brom last season but an agreement on a permanent deal couldn't be reached despite Ian Holloway's apparant enthusiasm for the player. He finished the season with Millwall and signed for MK Dons last summer where he has since made 46 appearances and scored five goals. Leon Knight played 11 times for QPR on loan from Chelsea at the end of the 2000/01 season but couldn't score or keep Rangers in the league. He has since played for, and subsequently fallen out with, Sheff Wed, Huddersfield, Brighton, Swansea and Barnsley before joining Mk Dons in January. So far he has made 16 appearances (nine from the bench) and scored just once. Bankole started in goal tonight with Harper an unused sub, Knight and Dyer both came off the bench to no avail and Allen is now left to plan for next season. Allen made 136 appearances for QPR and scored 16 goals between 1984 and 1990. He was of course best remembered for falling out with then manager Trevor Francis for leaving the team's hotel before a game with Newcastle to attend the birth of his son. He has managed Barnet, Brentford and joined MK Dons last summer.
