Scarborough
Scarborough full-back Kevin Nicholson is poised to sign a new contract. The 24-year-old former Notts County player was an ever-present for the Seasiders in the Conference following his permanent signing last summer. "It is good news and we are hoping to have a few more come back with decisions before next week's deadline," chairman Malcolm Reynolds said. Boro boss Nicky Henry has offered new terms to the bulk of the squad and given them a fortnight to decide.

Weaver makes Scarborough switch
Scarborough boss Nicky Henry has made former Kidderminster defender Simon Weaver his fourth summer signing. Weaver, 27, has agreed a 12-month contract at the McCain Stadium after leaving the relegated Harriers. "There was a clutch of clubs after him so it's a great move for us. He will give a commanding presence at the back," chairman Malcolm Reynolds said. Weaver has played in the Conference before for Nuneaton, as well as almost 100 League Two appearances for Lincoln.

Scarborough sign ex-Quakers star
Scarborough boss Nicky Henry has continued his squad strengthening with the capture of former Darlington midfielder Ian Clark. Clark, 30, has agreed a 12-month deal at the McCain Stadium. "He is an attacking midfield player who will get forward to score goals and brings a lot of experience," said Scarborough chairman Malcolm Reynolds. Clark was released by Darlington at the end of last season after previous spells with Hartlepool and Doncaster.

Scarborough pair sign Imps deals
Lincoln have signed out-of-contract Scarborough pair Colin Cryan and Scott Kerr on two-year contracts. However, the Seasiders will demand fees for the pair because of their ages - so their compensation could be determined by a transfer tribunal. Midfielder Kerr, 23, joined Boro from Hull in 2003 and has won international recognition in the National Game XI. Former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Cryan, 24, arrived from Sheffield United last summer. Both players rejected new deals at the McCain Stadium.

Seasiders have fine threat lifted
Scarborough have had the threat of a £5,000 FA fine lifted after improving their disciplinary record. The Seasiders had only one player sent off in Conference fixtures last season to prompt the FA to remove a suspended fine imposed the previous season. "It's something we have worked on and it¿s good not to have this hanging over us," said chairman Malcolm Reynolds. Meanwhile, the Seasiders still want to secure a fee from Lincoln following their signing of ex-captain Scott Kerr.

Gretna midfielder eyes Boro move
Former Port Vale midfielder Mark Boyd could become the third Gretna player to join Scarborough this summer. Boyd, 23, is due to join the Seasiders for part of their pre-season programme. He joined Gretna from Carlisle last summer but played just a few games for the Scottish Third Division champions and had a loan spell at Macclesfield. Brian Wake and Marc Eccles have already left Gretna for Scarborough and boss Nicky Henry is eager to bring in more new faces ahead of the new campaign.

Seasiders chief hits back at Kerr
Scarborough chairman Malcolm Reynolds has hit back at former club captain Scott Kerr and again insisted his move to Lincoln City should command a fee. Kerr, 23, was reported to have accused Boro of making a schoolboy mistake in the timing of their new contract offer. The midfielder feels the error allowed him to join City as a free agent. But Reynolds said: "The rules are quite clear. He was under 24 on the 30 June 2005 and an offer had been made to him. We are therefore entitled to a fee." "All players become free agents when their contracts expire, that much is not in dispute. However the rules about compensation are very clear and we have satisfied the conditions "Scott had not played football for a year when he came to us and no other club would employ him. We gave him a chance and developed him into the fine midfielder that he now is. "Having paid him over £70,000 during his time here I'm disappointed that he sees fit to accuse us of errors. It's hard to see what he has to gain from immature name calling."

Scarborough boss sees improvement
Scarborough are still looking for their first point of the season but boss Nick Henry was pleased with an improved showing against Morecambe on Tuesday. "We were a lot better than Saturday and sometimes you don't get what you deserve," said Henry, whose side lost 1-0 to a late Danny Carlton goal. "We had chances, it was their keeper making the saves in the second-half." Meanwhile Scarborough's summer signing Chris Hughes will be out for up to six weeks with a foot injury.

'Worst ever' Boro concern Henry
Nicky Henry described Scarborough's performance as "unacceptable" as they were left bottom of the Conference. "They were much the better team - that's the worst we've played since I took over," the Boro boss admitted after their 1-1 draw at Kidderminster. "You've got to earn the right to play. It was not acceptable, and I'll be trying to put it right this week. "I can't make wholesale changes, but I can guarantee there'll be a few changes in personnel for next week."

Speight earns deal with Seadogs
Scarborough have completed the signing of Sheffield United striker Jake Speight on a permanent basis. Speight, 19, has agreed terms following a successful work experience stay with the Seasiders. His short-term deal with the Blades was due to expire in September but he scored in in each of his first two appearances for Scarborough. Speight's goals helped earn Scarborough four points and convince boss Nicky Henry to offer him a deal.

Calf injury blow for striker Wake
Scarborough have been hit by the news that leading scorer Brian Wake is facing a month on the sidelines. The on-loan Gretna striker, 23, has scored in his last three games but has been ruled out with a calf problem. "It's a blow for us as Brian has just come into some good form and been scoring regularly," said Seasiders boss Nicky Henry. "But it's really him I feel for as he's had a bad run with injuries in recent times and was regaining sharpness."

Scarborough boss turns on players
Scarborough boss Nick Henry accused his side of going through the motions in their 1-0 home defeat by Southport. Henry said: "Some of our lads thought they could just turn up and play. "But credit to Southport, they worked hard which is what all good teams do, even Chelsea and this is a big wake-up call for some of our players. "I think that this has been coming for a while, and it proves that perhaps we're just not good enough, and it's not good enough."

Agar denies role at Scarborough
Keith Agar has dismissed reports that he had taken on the role of chief executive at Scarborough and has severed his links with the club. Contrary to an announcement on the club's website, Agar said he took an administrative position and has ended his third stint at the McCain Stadium. Agar said: "I went into the club for a week to advise specifically on administrative matters. "Now that period has ended, I am not connected with the club."
