R's boss hopes for go-ahead
Warnock says calling off QPR's opening league game would be a "massive blow" and feels the fans deserve to enjoy their day.
There is growing talk that the R's home clash with Bolton Wanderers is under threat following the recent trouble in the capital, with Tottenham's game with Everton already postponed.
Owner Bernie Ecclestone has already called on the weekend fixtures to go ahead as planned, but QPR are awaiting further news with concerns over public safety following the rioting in recent days.
Warnock stated: "It would be a major blow, not just to me but to everybody in the country. It gives people something to do and to look forward to, and I know our fans have looked forward to it. To let a couple of mindless thugs, opportunists, destroy what we've done would be wrong."
He added: "I'm hoping that they'll let things go ahead, and if anything I think playing the Premier League on Saturday would help the situation."
Warnock says he understands the the safety of the crowd must come first and says football bosses will need to "listen to what the police authorities finally come up with".
