Ref was right to call off Watford QPR match
Watford manager Malky Mackay believes referee Pat Miller was right to postpone last night’s game with Queens Park Rangers.
The match at Loftus Road was called off at around 6.45pm last night after a previous inspection at 6pm due to a waterlogged pitch.
QPR have had problems with the drainage at Loftus Road in the past and their clash with Crystal Palace had to be postponed on September 15 due to similar problems.
“We are very disappointed but it is the right decision,” Mackay stated.
“The referee called me in the minute we got here and had various people with him. He called myself and Mick in and the ref had been here for an hour and a half looking at it and checked the Met Office weather forecast for the next couple of hours and it was getting worse as the night wore on. It was not going anywhere.
“We are disappointed but we went and had a look ourselves and it is not going anywhere. There are bits of the park that are not very good at all. It is disappointing but it is the right decision.”
