Real want Beckham contract talks
England captain David Beckham is to hold talks with Real Madrid about extending his contract.
The 30-year-old former Manchester United midfielder has one more year on his deal after this season and has welcomed the club's offer of talks.
"The club have said they want to talk to me about signing a new deal and I am very happy to do that," Beckham said.
"My life here is perfect and I'm happy at Real Madrid so of course I want to stay as long as I can."
He added: "We have spoken about a meeting in the next couple of months but we'll just have to wait because we've got so many matches and I need to concentrate on the football for now.
Beckham has not had an easy ride since his high profile move from Old Trafford to the Bernabeu in 2003.
"The football side of things is much better now and I'm pleased with how it's going," Beckham said.
"I am always going to have problems with the paparazzi. I have had two men outside my house for the last two years, which is frightening at times, but that is my life unfortunately."
Luxemburgo hails Beckham display
Real Madrid coach Wanderley Luxemburgo has praised David Beckham for his role in the 2-1 victory over Olympiakos in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Beckham, who won the man-of-the-match award, set up Real's first goal and provided many other accurate crosses.
"Beckham has been playing well for a long time. This is not the first time he has played well," said Luxemburgo.
Raul gave Real the lead in the ninth minute but they needed a late strike from Robert Soldado to seal the win.
Luxemburgo was disappointed that his side wasted a series of good opportunities in the first half.
"I said at half-time that we had let them off," he added.
"The truth is we should have finished the game in the first half because we had six or seven chances.
"If you want to win you cannot let people off - you have to be positive."
