Real Madrid trio hit back at fans
Ronaldo, Julio Baptista and Roberto Carlos have hit out at the Real Madrid fans - accusing them of creating a negative vibe at the Bernabeu. The Brazilian trio believe it will be hard to win anything this season if the unnerving jeering continues. "The whistling has to end because if not we won't get anywhere," said Baptista after the draw with Osasuna. Fellow striker Ronaldo says the current Bernabeu atmosphere makes it feel more like "playing away from home". The Real Madrid fans' reaction to the club's narrow 1-0 triumph over neighbouring Getafe two weeks ago played a part in the dismissal of coach Wanderley Luxemburgo. But it was the supporters' lack of patience that was evident to defender Roberto Carlos after Sunday's 1-1 draw with Osasuna. Carlos told the club's website: "We were never able to relax when we had the ball at our feet because the fans wanted us to play so quickly but we have got to be more patient." Caretaker coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro can sympathise with the fans' complaints. He said: "The fans can do what they want and their views always have to be respected. "We have to be professional and understand that we all have a major responsibility in working for Real Madrid." Real are currently third in La Liga, eight points behind leaders Barcelona.
