QPR to appeal against FA sanction
QPR will appeal against a Football Association fine after the mass confrontation against Leicester at the Walkers Stadium earlier this season. Both clubs were charged with failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in orderly fashion, with QPR fined £14,000 and the hosts £20,000. Despite admitting the charge to the FA, a statement on QPR's website read: "QPR will be appealing this decision." Leicester denied the charge and will contact FA officials for more details. QPR won the match 2-1 following a late goal from striker Paul Furlong, but the game was marred by a melee involving all 22 players. The trouble was sparked by Alan Maybury kicking out at Furlong after the pair challenged for the ball. Maybury was given a red card for violent conduct, while Furlong was sent off later in the game for receiving his second booking. Foxes boss Craig Levein branded Maybury "reckless and stupid" after the match.
