QPR investor wants manager change
Ian Holloway should be replaced as QPR manager, according to the club's president Harold Winton. The former director has provided money to help Holloway sign players and been an ally of the Rangers boss throughout various behind-the-scenes problems. But Winton said: "The time has come for a change. There's a malaise setting in. "I've backed him through thick and thin. Through the terrible runs we had - including the Vauxhall Motors defeat - I backed him. Not any more." Winton was given the honorary title of Life President after helping Rangers through deep financial problems. He was involved in the club's signings of Dan Shittu, Marc Bircham and former R's forward Doudou. Winton has remained close to the board and chairman Gianni Paladini despite openly backing ex-chairman Bill Power after he was ousted earlier this year. Holloway, meanwhile, has faced criticism for his tactics and signings. Discontent among some fans appears to be growing after five matches without a win and some poor performances following a huge hike in ticket prices. But Holloway remains a popular figure at Loftus Road having led the club during turbulent times and achieving promotion from the Second Division in 2004. "I have and will always have great affection and the utmost respect for Ian Holloway," Winton added. "I just feel we need new ideas if the good work of the last few years isn't to count for nothing. "We've had short-term measures. Where is there any sign of us building a team? "All Ian wants to do is spend more money and have even more players. "We have some good players and good youngsters coming through. It's imperative we develop these boys and I don't think under the current set-up that's going to happen. "The atmosphere is different. There are empty seats and I don't believe that's only down to price increases. The football is poor and the spirit on and off the pitch is ebbing away. "The club has become stagnant and we need fresh ideas to take us forward."
