QPR GO AHEAD WITH IRAN FRIENDLY
QPR chief executive Mark Devlin has insisted that Saturday's pre-season friendly with Iran will go ahead but with heightened security.
Following a second terror alert in London on Thursday the club have asked that all supporters arrive at Loftus Road earlier than usual so that searches can be carried out before kick-off.
"We have spoken to the police and everyone is still comfortable with the game going ahead at the moment," Devlin told the club's website.
"However, following the discussions we have had, there will be increased security on the day and searches will be carried out.
"It will assist us greatly if supporters could arrive earlier than normal so that we can get everyone into the ground in good time."
Iran, who are ranked 15th in the world following their recent qualification for the 2006 World Cup, have arrived in the country to begin their 16-day training camp.
QPR 3-0 Iran
Paul Furlong, Gareth Ainsworth and George Santos all scored headers as QPR enjoyed a 3-0 friendly win over Iran.
The Iranians, who have qualified for next year's World Cup, held QPR at bay until the 41st minute, when Furlong headed Dan Shittu's cross home.
Substitute Ainsworth doubled the home side's lead 14 minutes after half-time, as he headed Lee Cook's corner.
And Ainsworth turned provider after 71 minutes, taking the corner which Santos headed to complete the scoring.
Summer signing Tommy Doherty made his debut for Rangers, playing just over one hour before making way for Marcus Bean.
Aston Villa trialist Wayne Henderson made an appearance in goal, while Derby trialist Jamie Vincent also played.
