QPR boss wants Blackburn full-back Pascal Chimbonda
QPR are ready to gamble on Pascal Chimbonda as Kyle Walker's replacement after the right-back was recalled to Spurs this week at the end of his loan deal.
Chimbonda has been told he can leave Blackburn – but the sticking point might be getting Rovers to loan rather than sell a player who’s not seen eye-to-eye with his last three Premiership bosses.
Chimbonda’s one great season in the top flight came with Wigan in 2005-6 when he was named in the PFA team and earned a squad place with France in the World Cup.
After that it was largely downhill despite deals worth £8million that saw the 31-year-old sign for Sunderland and Tottenham twice before moving to Blackburn in August 2009.
Naturally gifted, rumours from all three Premiership camps reckon Chimbonda’s laziness blighted a promising start.
But Rs woeful defensive display in Monday’s 2-2 with Bristol City has prompted calls for immediate surgery from manager Neil Warnock.
He said: "Originally, I was against loan signings – but I think we need two or three players to cover injuries and suspensions."
