WBA boss Bryan Robson wants to bring in defensive cover for Neil Clement and Thomas Gaardsoe who will both miss the start of the season through injury. QPR chairman Gianni Paladini had previously insisted his club would not accept less than £3m for defender Danny Shittu. Watford had a bid for the giant centre-back rejected. Shittu moved to Loftus Road from Charlton in 2002 in a £350,000 deal funded by QPR fans Matthew and Alex Winton.
