QPR 0-0 Norwich City
RANGERS' uncanny knack of keeping out all comers to Loftus Road survived a trial by penalty - but Norwich City refused to go on and become the Hoops' latest falls guys. After nearly eight hours of football without conceding on home soil, it seemed Paddy Kenny must finally be beaten when Clint Hill gave away a spot kick by wrestling Grant Holt to the ground on 26 minutes. In the event, Kenny did not even have to make a save as Wes Hoolihan – whose cross had led to the penalty award - scuffed a weak left foot shot past the keeper's left hand post. Rangers, attacking the Loft End in the second half, would have been hoping to make the most of their reprieve, but for the second home game running, had to settle for a point. Although Rangers enjoyed spells of good possession and pressure and won the corner count by a mile, they did not carve out an endless supply of chances as in many previous matches this season. Norwich offered greater resistance than they have been used to and also had mobility and nous in attack in the shape of Simeon Jackson and Grant Holt to keep Rangers honest. In one swift counter-attack, Jackson fed Holt in the inside left position and Rangers were grateful to see the ball wastefully fired over the bar. Kyle Walker had a superb afternoon for the Hoops – his dazzling runs often a source of danger. But Rangers' best chance came with sub Tommy Smith floated a free-kick to the back post that was nodded invitingly towards Gorkss at the far post by Heidar Helguson. Gorkss met the ball well, but his goalbound header was dramatically knocked off the line by Andrew Crofts. Helguson headed a cross from the right just over when he should perhaps have done better and Jamie Mackie almost inadvertently deflected a 40-yarder from walker past keeper John Ruddy. It was not quite what the majority of the full house crowd were hoping for, but at least Rangers remain unbeaten from their 11 Championship games.
