Playing role for Ainsworth?
Jim Magilton has confirmed Gareth Ainsworth has reverted solely to a playing role for next season.
Veteran winger Ainsworth has been on the coaching staff at Loftus Road for the past couple of years and has had two spells as caretaker manager.
But Keith Ryan has now been appointed reserve-team boss, and while Ainsworth has been linked with a player-coach role at Port Vale, Magilton will give him a chance to stake his claim in the first team.
"Gareth has made it quite clear he wants to be given an opportunity here as a player so we will do so accordingly," said Magilton.
"You have a certain degree of sympathy for Gareth, when managers were coming and going Gareth was asked to step in and he did it graciously.
"But he'll be given an opportunity."
