Pires set for six-month lay-off
Villarreal midfielder Robert Pires looks set to be out of action until March as he recovers from knee surgery.
Pires, who joined the Spanish outfit from Arsenal in May, suffered a rupture of the cruciate ligament in his knee on 19 August.
The 31-year-old France international will remain in Marseille for around a month before returning to Villarreal near Valencia.
He will then require several months of rehabilitation before training again.
i feel bad for pires, an insperational player for any team he has played for. if it is the same knee he injured when he played for arsenal in the f.a cup tie against newcastle then who knows he may never play again. i hope he does make it back if not this season but next.
Yeah It must have been a sad day for Arsenal fans when he went? a super player...hopefully should be fine :wink:
