Phillips targetted by QPR
Rumour has is that Queens Park Rangers, who have money to spend after their well publicised takeover this season, are in the hunt for a new strikeforce to help them launch a campaign for Premiership football at the end of next season. It is believed that the London club have expressed an interest in West Brom striker Kevin Phillips who finished the season as the second highest scorer in the league
As time drags on there is increasing doubt over whether Phillips will settle his contract talks with Albion. The saga that has been going on since January doesn't look like being solved any time soon, with Phillips still demanding a 2 year contract worth to him £20,000 a week. It is likely that any contract offer to keep him at the Hawthorns however will be for 12 months only.
But it is believed that recently appointed Iain Dowie will be prepared to meet the players demands in an attempt to lure him to Loftus Road. He is also believed to be interested in signing Wolves £1.5 million striker Freddy Eastwood, who has been put on the Molineux transfer list by gaffer Mick McCarthy.
The news has come as great disappointment to Wolves fans who believe the player to have been treated unfairly during his 12 months at Wolves. Eastwood has also been linked with a whole host of other Championship sides such as Coventry and Norwich.
The potential exit of Phillips from the Hawthorns is likely to come as an equal disappointment to many Albion fans, who believe that the players demands of a 2 year contract are justified after his record this season, despite the Baggies promotion and Phillips turning 35 next month.
