Notts County 0-0 Peterborough
A goalless draw ensured Notts County and Peterborough maintained their unbeaten start to the season. But County will not be happy after twice having penalty appeals turned down for challenges by Guy Branston on Jason Lee. Chris Plummer shot over from six yards early in the game but from then on it was Steve Thompson's side who had the better of the match. Branston and Trevor Benjamin wasted good chances for the visitors. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notts County: Pilkington, Gleeson, Edwards, White, McCann, Pipe (N'Toya 82), Somner, Martin, Parkinson, Lee, Mendes. Subs Not Used: Deeney, Dudfield, Hunt, Curtis. Booked: Lee. Peterborough: Tyler, Newton, Arber, Branston, Plummer, Day (Stirling 62), Holden, Butcher, Richards (Huke 69), Benjamin, Yeo (Opara 57). Alexander will keep Posh focused
Boss Keith Alexander will not allow Peterborough's players to be distracted by thoughts of their upcoming Carling Cup second round tie against Everton. \"That match is way down my list of priorities at the moment,\" he told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph. \"It's a great tie because it could be a full house, and a decent money-spinner, but it's a long way off yet. \"We have important league matches before then and we want to keep our good run going for a while longer yet.\"

Richards news cheers Peterborough
Peterborough have announced that striker Justin Richards' head injury is not as bad as had been feared. He went to hospital with a suspected fractured cheekbone after their 0-0 draw at Notts County, but no serious damage has been sustained. Richards should be available for Sunday's League Two game against Bury. Posh manager Keith Alexander had fumed after the County game last Saturday that \"four or five players\" had suffered cut heads.

Posh manager rues poor defending
Peterborough boss Keith Alexander felt his side let themselves down in the 1-0 home defeat against Bury. Posh's unbeaten start to the season was ended after Andy Bishop scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Alexander told the club website: \"I am disappointed with the performance and not happy with the result, especially as it brings to an end our good run. \"We didn't play well, but even then we should have gained a point and it was sloppy defending that cost us.\"

Yeo ready for cheekbone operation
Peterborough United striker Simon Yeo will have surgery on a fractured cheekbone on Wednesday. Yeo sustained the injury during Sunday's 1-0 home defeat against Bury and is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The 32-year-old was forced to leave the field after a collision with Bury goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. Yeo has scored twice in seven games for the Posh since following manager Keith Alexander from Lincoln in the summer. Yeo previously scored 52 goals in two spells for Lincoln either side of a stint playing in New Zealand.

Posh boss hails friendly display
Peterborough United boss Keith Alexander saw Tuesday's 8-0 friendly win over part-timers Wisbech as a worthwhile work-out. Lloyd Opara hit a hat-trick and Justin Richards and Danny Crow netted twice, with an own goal completing the rout. \"Our attitude was spot on,\" Alexander said. \"We passed it around well and scored some good goals too. \"I was pleased that the strikers all got on the score-sheet and hopefully that will give them some confidence.\"

Fry expresses fears over striker
Peterborough chairman Barry Fry says striker Simon Yeo could be out for the rest of the season. Yeo fractured a cheekbone after a challenge with Bury keeper Kasper Schmeichel last Sunday. \"Simon will definitely be out for several months, but we have been warned that he might not play again this season,\" said Fry. \"He has had several operations, one involving the eye socket and the other involving the cheekbone.\" He added: \"It was a very complicated operation and that is why it took place on Wednesday and not straight after the incident.\" Yeo has scored twice in seven games for the Posh since following manager Keith Alexander from Lincoln in the summer. Yeo previously scored 52 goals in two spells for Lincoln either side of a stint playing in New Zealand.

Alexander to make changes at Posh
Peterborough boss Keith Alexander has vowed to ring the changes after watching his side lose a second home game in succession, 3-1 to Darlington. \"We have played seven games now and it is time to make changes,\" he said. \"We were very poor in the first half and only marginally better in the second and it is not good enough. \"I said when I came in that I would not get carried away when we win, and I did not, just like I am not panicking now. But there is plenty for us to work on.\"

Peterborough 1-3 Darlington
Darlington cruised to victory over Peterborough, largely thanks to three goals in the opening 24 minutes. Barry Conlon opened the scoring with a penalty after Chris Plummer fouled Gaetano Giallanza and Julian Joachim added the second with sweet shot. Joachim scored his second after exchanging passes with Giallanza before Danny Crow pulled one back for Posh. But the victory was soured by Giallanza's late dismissal after a clash with Peterborough's Adam Newton. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Peterborough: Tyler, Newton, Arber, Branston, Plummer (Gain 25), Stirling, Holden, Butcher, Richards (Benjamin 71), Opara, Crow. Walsall v Peterborough
Walsall defender Allan Picken has returned to full training after a knee problem but the Peterborough match will come too soon for the Australian. Picken should be back for Saturday's Macclesfield match but Alex Nicholls and Darren Wrack still lack fitness. Peterborough defender Ben Futcher is doubtful after picking up a knee injury in the weekend defeat to Darlington. Futcher's fitness will be evaluated but Jamie Day could return after recovering from illness.

Walsall 5-0 Peterborough
Walsall kept up their perfect home record by crushing Peterborough despite having Anthony Gerrard sent off. Walsall were 3-0 up before the half-hour thanks to Daniel Fox's shot and Michael Dobson helping himself to goals in the 17th and 27th minutes. Dobson turned home Kris Taylor's cross and then scored with a low shot. Just past the hour Gerrard was sent off for a high tackle, but Martin Butler's header made it 4-0 and he claimed a second with a low drilled effort. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walsall: Ince, Westwood, Gerrard, Roper, Taylor, Wright, Dobson, Keates (Demontagnac 90), Fox, Butler (Bedeau 81), Sam (Kinsella 66). Peterborough borrow Coventry pair
Peterborough have signed Coventry pair Ben Turner and Liam Davis on loan. Defender Turner, 18, has made just one substitute appearance for the Sky Blues' first team. Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Davis, 19, had two substitute outings early last season, but has not yet featured for Micky Adams' side this season. \"Liam is a quick lad and will give us extra options in attack, while Ben is a good defender,\" Posh boss Keith Alexander told his club's website.

Swindon v Peterborough
Swindon must wait to discover the extent of Jack Smith's knee injury before deciding on their team. Ricky Shakes is favourite to deputise if he is ruled out, while Jamie Vincent (Achilles) is back in contention and Andy Monkhouse (hamstring) may return. Peterborough could hand debuts to on-loan Coventry duo Liam Davis and Ben Turner after signing short-term deals. But Guy Branston and Paul Carden are suspended after being sent off in the 5-0 defeat at Walsall.

Fry makes way for new Posh owner
League Two side Peterborough United have announced Darragh MacAnthony as their new chairman. Posh unveiled MacAnthony at a news conference on Monday, where owner Barry Fry revealed he was stepping down as chairman to make way. \"I have taken the club as far as I can and have no more resources to put money into this club,\" said Fry. \"There is no doubt Darragh can take this club forward and his expertise in the business world will help hugely.\" Fry admitted recently that he had been involved in talks with several people keen to invest in the London Road outfit. He continued: \"I have had many people flying in from France and Scotland, Portugal and Spain to come and see me wanting to help this club. \"One of these gentlemen came over on 25th August and he was music to my ears because he was talking football, football and football. \"He was so impressed after looking around at London Road and the training ground that we shook hands on a deal. \"Darragh is a football nut with so much passion and commitment and I would like to welcome him as the new chairman of this football club. \"I will be stepping down to continue my role as director of football.\"

Stockport v Peterborough
Stockport trio Tes Bramble and Glenn Murray (both ankle) and fellow striker Adam Proudlock (hamstring) are all expected to return against Stockport. But County will be without goalkeeper James Spencer (hip) and defenders Michael Rose (broken toe) and Michael Raynes (exhaustion). Peterborough skipper Dean Holden has hamstring injury and could miss out. Strikers Simon Yeo (cheek) and Lloyd Opara (hamstring) are still missing, as is defender Ben Futcher (knee).
