Plymouth 2-1 Peterborough
Plymouth came from behind to beat Peterborough in the Carling Cup. Argyle equalised through Paul Wotton, who converted from the penalty spot after David Farrell was adjudged to have fouled David Norris. Scott Taylor then scored Plymouth's winner, slotting home a pass from Akos Buzsaky 18 yards from goal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plymouth: McCormick, Connolly, Wotton, Doumbe, Barness, Norris, Mendes, Buzsaky (Lasley 83), Djordjic, Taylor, Evans (Chris Zebroski 76). Wright left to rue missed chances
Peterborough boss Mark Wright was left frustrated after a late own goal denied them a victory at Stockport. "I can't believe we are not sitting here with six points from the last two games," he said after the 1-1 draw. "We battered Torquay on Saturday, and against Stockport, I cannot believe how much we dominated the game. "Chris Turner, the Stockport manager, apologised after Sean St Ledger scored the own goal and admitted he was 'embarrassed to be on level terms'."

Wright unhappy with his strikers
Peterborough manager Mark Wright has lost patience with under-achieving strikers James Quinn, Danny Crow, Trevor Benjamin and Richard Logan. They have scored three goals between them all season and Wright said: "The forwards will get bashed in training this week. "I really don't know why we have been so poor in front of goal as the raw materials seem to be in place. "It isn't happening and it cannot be allowed to continue."

Wright sees positives in defeat
Peterborough boss Mark Wright felt his side's performance was much improved in the second half of their 2-1 defeat against Cheltenham. Wright told Sir Stanley : "We changed our formation after the break and we got in amongst them. "We probably could have got a draw out of it but this loss is a big wake-up call for us. "Some of our players thinks you can just turn up and get a result without trying and that's not possible."

Fry backs Wright for Posh success
Barry Fry says Peterborough boss Mark Wright has plenty of time to turn around the club's fortunes. Wright is four months into a three-year contract, with Posh in 18th place in League Two after three straight losses. But director of football Barry Fry told the club website: "I told Mark when he got here he had three years at least. "While I have so much confidence in him that I expect promotion before then, he will be under no pressure from the board if it doesn't happen."

Peterborough set for budget cuts
Peterborough's director of football Barry Fry says Posh have told boss Mark Wright he will not have money to spend when the transfer window reopens. Fry told Sir Stanley: "We have gone over the budget we intended to give Mark to try and be successful. "But now we have to cut our cloth accordingly because we have to keep the club in existence. "Going into 2006 we must reduce the budget. Mark can wheel and deal but he must get players out to get some in."

Peterborough suspend boss Wright
Peterborough manager Mark Wright has been suspended by the League Two club pending an internal investigation. Wright took over as boss in May 2005, after Barry Fry moved up to become director of football at London Road. Fry said: "Mark Wright has been suspended on full pay pending an inquiry. That's all I am willing or able to say at this time. "There will be no further statements from the club until the inquiry has been completed." The former Liverpool and England centre-back had previous spells as manager of Southport, Oxford United and Chester City. Wright, 42, was not present at Tuesday night's Maunsell Cup final at Rushden and Diamonds and assistant boss Steve Bleasdale took charge of team affairs as the Posh lost 3-2 on penalties. League Managers Association chief executive John Barnwell confirmed that the club had suspended the manager. He said: "We have been informed that Mark Wright has been suspended, but cannot make an official statement until the club does."

Posh seek replacement for Logan
Peterborough striker Richard Logan is facing at least a fortnight on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in the 2-1 win over Darlington. However, caretaker boss Steve Bleasdale is hopeful that he might be able to bring in a replacement on loan. "Richard is out for two weeks, maybe more," Bleasdale told Posh's website. "We still have options in attack, but I have named a few players I would like to (owner) Barry Fry and we will see what we can do."

Plummer to have cancer operation
Peterborough United defender Chris Plummer is to have an operation to remove a testicle after cancerous cells were discovered. The 29-year-old centre-back will undergo the operation at the beginning of March and will then be told if chemotherapy is required. Plummer told his club's website: "I found a lump and went to the doctors to get it checked out. "It is obviously pretty serious and I am now just waiting for the operation."

Wright returns as Chester manager
Chester have announced that Mark Wright will return to the club as manager until the end of the season. The 42-year-old former Liverpool and England defender makes a comeback at the Deva Stadium only 18 months after leaving in acrimonious circumstances. Wright went on to manage Peterborough but was sacked last month on the grounds of gross misconduct. He has launched a legal action against Posh - for alleged breach of contract and the harm caused to his reputation

Opara to be given Chelsea trial
Chelsea are to hand a trial to young Cheshunt striker Lloyd Opara. The 22-year-old is also a transfer target for League Two side Peterborough after training at London Road. "Chelsea want him to go there for a trial period, so we can't stand in his way," Posh manager Steve Bleasdale told his club's website. Opara, who has had previous spells with Colchester, Cambridge and Swindon, has scored 23 goals this season for Southern League side Cheshunt.

Torquay 1-0 Peterborough
Torquay climbed off the bottom of the Football League with a priceless win over play-off hopefuls Peterborough. Tony Bedeau struck his 10th goal of the season, volleying Martin Phillips' right-wing cross in off the far post midway through the second half. The Seagulls, without a win in five games, had dominated from the start, with on-loan Chelsea midfielder Danny Hollands impressive on his debut. Peterborough v Barnet
Peterborough captain Dean Holden begins a two-match ban after receiving his 10th caution of the season. Richard Logan, who has missed the club's last two matches with hamstring trouble, could be set for a recall. Struggling Barnet welcome back Barry Fuller (calf) but boss Paul Fairclough has a host of other injury problems. Tresor Kandol and Jason Norville (both ankle) miss out and the duo are joined on the sidelines by Ian Hendon (toe) and Stevland Angus (knee).

Peterborough 2-2 Barnet
Peterborough twice fought back from going behind to deny struggling Barnet a much-needed victory. Andy Hessenthaler volleyed the Bees ahead from six yards after Posh defender Mark Arber failed to clear. Liam Hatch and Simon Clist both went close soon for the visitors before Danny Crow's lob put Posh level. Dean Sinclair's back-heel teed up Barry Fuller to restore Barnet's lead but substitute Richard Logan scored from Ryan Semple's corner to equalise again. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Peterborough: Tyler, St. Ledger, Bolland, Arber, Kennedy, Semple, Carden, Gain, Day (Farrell 83), Kuqi (Logan 54), Crow. Posh sign Ryan for rest of season
Peterborough boss Steve Bleasdale has strengthened his squad for the promotion run-in with the signing of former Doncaster defender Tim Ryan. Ryan has agreed a deal until the end of the season at London Road after training with them recently. The 31-year-old had been released by Doncaster in January. Bleasdale told the club's website: "He is very experienced which is one reason why I have brought him in as we are at the business end of the season."
