Peterborough keen to sign Hughes Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson is hoping to secure a permanent deal for on-loan Crystal Palace defender Jeff Hughes when the transfer window opens.
Ferguson told his club's website: "I would love to get Jeff here permanently. He has done well for us during the time he has been here."
The Northern Ireland player joined Palace from Lincoln during the summer but started just four games for Eagles.
Hughes, 22, has since made five substitute appearances for the Posh.

However, he will be unable to move to another club until the transfer window reopens on 1 January.

Ferguson hails 'tremendous' Posh Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson welcomed a "thoroughly deserved victory" as they won 3-1 at Colchester in the FA Cup third round.
"To come to a Championship club and at times outplay them for long periods was a tremendous achievement," he said.
"We could even have been out of sight at half-time, because we created so many opportunities.
"We felt they (Colchester) would be nervous at the start of both halves, and so it proved."

Posh break record to sign keeper Peterborough United have broken their transfer record to sign goalkeeper Joe Lewis from Norwich for a £400,000 fee.
The 20-year-old has agreed a four-and-a-half-year deal.
"I feel we have signed one of the most promising goalkeepers in the country," Posh boss Darren Ferguson told his club's website.
Lewis did not play a senior game for Norwich after coming through the youth scheme but enjoyed a successful loan spell at Morecambe earlier this season.

Peterborough charged after fracas Peterborough have been charged by the Football Association with failing to control their players after a brawl in Saturday's match against Wrexham.
The 72nd-minute incident happened after a challenge by Wrexham's Steve Evans on Posh keeper Joe Lewis.
All 20 outfield players were involved while Lewis had to be substituted.
Posh have until 27 February to respond to the charge. Any disciplinary procedure for Wrexham would be issued by the Football Association of Wales.

Mclean wants Posh to keep focus Peterborough United striker Aaron Mclean insists his club have achieved nothing yet and are only well-placed for success this season.
Posh are second in League Two and play leaders MK Dons away on Friday.
Mclean, 24, is top of the League Two scoring table with 25 goals and said: "Once the job is done then you can look back at a brilliant season.
"As a team we want to get promotion. As an individual I'd like to get the golden boot."
He added: "We want to win the league and by beating MK Dons we can send out a statement of intent to the rest of the league.
It's going to be two teams both wanting to win the game and both playing attractive football.
"We know that if we don't come away with three points it's not the end of the world as we still have seven games to go."
Mclean admits he's already achieved his target in terms of goal for the campaign.
He said: "At the beginning of the season I wanted to get 20 goals and if I can get close to 30 I will be happy."

Gnakpa and Crow set to leave Posh Peterborough United right-back Claude Gnakpa and striker Danny Crow are both set to leave the London Road club.
Gnakpa was at Posh for just one season but was unable to negotiate a new deal, with reports suggesting he had demanded to be the club's highest paid player.
Crow spent much of last season on loan at League Two strugglers Notts County.
Posh manager Darren Ferguson told the club website: "Danny is surplus to requirements at this football club and is available."
Ferguson also warned: "There are one or two others that I don't expect to be here next season."
The Posh manager confirmed there had been disagreement with Gnakpa over the terms of a new contract.
"We made him a good offer as he has played well for us this season, but if players think we will meet all their demands then they are wrong," he said.
"I thank him for all his efforts but he won't be here next season."
Ferguson also confirmed Rene Howe will return to Posh after a successful loan spell at Rochdale.

Posh target Premier League loans Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry has revealed the club have agreed loan deals for two unnamed Premier League midfielders.
Manager Darren Ferguson must now decide which one of the players he wants to bring to London Road.
"I've done two deals for two quality midfield players," Fry told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
"The final decision rests with the manager, he can have either one; what he can't do is have both."
The players are believed to be Premier League academy products looking for first team experience and would continue the Posh ethos of developing young, hungry talent.
"We've agreed terms with one Premiership club, we've agreed terms with another Premiership club, they're similar players," Fry said.
"It's just a matter of Darren making up his mind which one he wants."
However, Peterborough's summer spending is set to continue with Fry revealing the club are also working to bring in another player on a permanent basis.
"We've got a meeting on Friday with another club regarding another sort of player that I would say is a utility player more than anything else."
Meanwhile, Fry has again reiterated that striker Aaron Maclean is not for sale.
Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers have show interest in the former Grays man, but Fry has said the club will accept nothing less than £5m for his services.
"Jez Moxey sent me an e-mail bidding a million pounds and I sent it backing saying I had to check the date, I thought it was April Fool's Day, and turned it down flat," Fry said.

Crow cool on Cambridge loan move Peterborough United forward Danny Crow has played down the possibility of a loan move to rivals Cambridge United.
Crow has been deemed surplus to requirements at London Road, but the former Norwich trainee is reluctant to drop into non-league.
"I'm not saying I'd ever say no or anything like that because I know Cambridge are a good club," Crow told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
"But obviously a League One or League Two club would be really ideal."
Crow, who joined Posh from Norwich in 2005 and was the club's top scorer in his first season at London Road with 17 goals, has fallen out of favour under manager Darren Ferguson.
He spent much of last season on loan at Notts County and whilst he admits there are a lot of quality players now plying their trade in the non-league, he is hopeful of securing a move to a League club.
"I'd never say I wouldn't want to go on loan to a Conference team, but ideally I wouldn't want to," he said.
Ideally Crow would like a permanent move to a League Two side, but accepts he may have to review his options if he is still looking for a club come the end of August.
"I've got another year and it's a good contract , there's been a couple of clubs but they can't offer the same deal," he added.
"As it comes more towards August I'll have to assess the situation and see what happens."

Posh waiting on Akinde response Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has revealed he is in talks with Ebbsfleet striker John Akinde about a possible move to London Road.
Ebbsfleet have rejected several offers from Posh for the 19-year-old who has already scored twice this season.
But it appears Peterborough may not be Akinde's preferred destination.
Ferguson told Radio Cambridgeshire: "He's gone to Bristol City to talk with them, it's understandable, they're a Championship club."
Akinde has scored 10 goals in 29 appearances for the Blue Square Premier side, since making his debut for the club last season.
Whilst Posh and Bristol City have been given permission to open talks with Akinde, whether or not the transfer goes ahead will be decided by an internet vote.
Members of myfootballclub.co.uk, who own Ebbsfleet United, will vote online to decide if the club should allow Akinde to move on.

Best is yet to come - Posh star Peterborough United forward Sergio Torres admits he is yet to reach full fitness following an ankle operation.
Torres arrived at London Road from Wycombe over the summer, but missed most of pre-season through injury.
Posh were without the 24-year-old for Saturday's draw with Northampton after he bruised his knee in training.
"I missed two months and that counts as pre-season is very important, I'm still not 100% fit," the Argentine told Radio Cambridgeshire.
Peterborough host Tranmere in League One this weekend, and Torres is hopeful of being involved.
"I don't really know yet as there is still fluid and it's a bit sore," he said.
"Hopefully I will be training on Thursday or Friday."
Torres has made seven appearances for Posh so far this season despite ankle surgery slowing his progress.
He said: "It's really good, I'm getting on with all the players and everyone's been really nice.
"Hopefully I'll start playing again soon, the team's been playing very well."

Zakuani struggling for Leeds game Peterborough United defender Gabriel Zakuani is a doubt for Saturday's clash against Leeds with a bruised foot.
Zakuani, 22, who is loan from Fulham, limped off early on in Posh's 2-1 win over Milton Keynes Dons at the weekend.
Ferguson told Radio Cambridgeshire: "He's got a really badly bruised instep, and I've had it myself - it's going to be there for a while.
"It's just one of those things, but that's why we have a squad. Chris Westwood was excellent on Saturday".

Ferguson hopes for Leeds catalyst Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson hopes Saturday's 2-0 win over Leeds will kick-start his side's League One season.
Posh claimed a well-deserved win in front of a packed London Road crowd.
Ferguson told Radio Cambridgeshire: "This could be the catalyst for the season, beating a team that many thought would run away with the league.
"It's going to give everyone a lift, everyone in Peterborough. It might just be the start of good things to come."
