Aaron Mclean's impressive first season at Peterborough has been rewarded with a new contract. The 23-year-old striker, who joined Posh from Conference club Grays and has scored 10 goals this season, has agreed a deal until June 2011. "This is a club that will get me there because that's where I want to be, I want to be part of the club's future."

Crow has fears for future at Posh
Striker Danny Crow fears he may not have impressed Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson enough to be included in his plans for next season. Crow, 21, limped off injured in the 1-1 draw against Torquay on 14 April. Crow told SSB: "I have not started in the last five games or so and have not scored since the new manager has been here. "I don't feel I've been in my best form and I've not scored since the new boss has been in charge either." Crow added: "My confidence is low and as soon as I get my chance I've got injured and it's really disappointing."

Posh neighbours denied permission
Peterborough have dismissed the prospect of hosting Boston if the Pilgrims are evicted from their ground. Boston could face eviction proceedings in court on Thursday over alleged non-payment of rent at York Street. The Pilgrims asked Posh about using London Road if needed, for Saturday's crucial home game against Torquay. Peterborough's holding company has declined the request, a decision Posh director of football Barry Fry said left him "flabbergasted."

Peterborough expect FA punishment
Peterborough expect to be punished by the Football Association after a fan punched Rochdale's Glen Poole in the face on Saturday. The incident occurred during the pitch invasion which followed their 3-3 draw at London Road. Poole was felled by the blow but Dale have confirmed the midfielder suffered no real injury. The supporter was immediately handed over to police and has been banned for life by the League Two club. A statement from Posh read: "The football club have banned a 'supporter' for life after an incident following the final whistle on Saturday at London Road. "The police have arrested the offender, who cannot be named, and have taken statements from individuals involved. The club are co-operating fully with the police investigation."

Fry fears for Posh ground closure
Peterborough director of football Barry Fry fears that the Football Association could close London Road after a fan punched an opposition player. Rochdale's Glenn Poole was hit in the face as fans spilled on to the pitch after Saturday's 3-3 draw. Fry said: "The FA could close us down over this and I'm devastated. "We reduced the admission prices to get a bigger crowd and a better atmosphere and it worked a treat, but a handful of youngsters have let us down badly." He added: "We could be punished as a result. "I saw the fan who threw the punch after the game and immediately banned him from our ground for life, but I expect we will be in big trouble now." Poole was felled by the blow but Dale have confirmed the midfielder suffered no real injury. A statement from Posh read: "The football club have banned a 'supporter' for life after an incident following the final whistle on Saturday at London Road. "The police have arrested the offender, who cannot be named, and have taken statements from individuals involved. The club are co-operating fully with the police investigation."

McAnthony finalises Posh takeover
Chairman Darragh MacAnthony has finally completed his takeover of Peterborough from previous owner Barry Fry. The Irish businessman, 31, first took the helm at Posh back in September, having decided to invest in the club. But he was unable to become sole owner until a dispute with Peterborough's landlords was resolved. MacAnthony has so far pumped in more than £5m into the club and has assembled the most expensive Posh squad in Football League history. He has set manager Darren Ferguson a target of Premier League football in five years and the season started well for the League Two title favourites with a 3-0 win over Rochdale on Saturday. MacAnthony said in a club statement: "This morning I officially became the owner of Peterborough United FC, 12 months after first arriving on the scene. "Both myself and Barry sat down this morning for the official signing and it is all done and dusted, as I always knew it would be. "My ultimate goal is one of reaching the highest level and giving the city of Peterborough a football club they can be proud of - on the pitch and off it." Fry, also a former manager of Posh, remains as director of football at London Road.

Posh boss rues defensive errors
Boss Darren Ferguson was disappointed that his Peterborough side made costly defensive errors in the 2-0 defeat against West Brom in the Carling Cup. "Our two central defenders played well but we had lapses of concentration at the back and we paid for it," Ferguson told SSB. "I say it to the players all the time that they must be more focused. "But I also felt that the referee got the majority of the decisions wrong and gave them the benefit of the doubt."

Lee puts faith in Posh strikers
Midfielder Charlie Lee feels Peterborough are a formidable attacking side and have all the ingredients to have a successful season. Posh have impressed recently winning their last three matches and scoring seven goals in the process. Lee told SSB: "We have looked good up front all through our pre-season campaign. Davis agrees two-month Posh move
Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson has added to his options in defence with the signing of Luton Town left-back Sol Davis on a two-month loan deal. Davis, 28, has not featured in Luton's first team this season and has had only one start in the reserves. "I was keen to get some games under my belt because I am not getting any at Luton," Davis told the Posh web site. "Peterborough are a good side and play the right way and I can't wait to get started," he added.

Cobblers sign Branston from Posh
Northampton have signed Peterborough defender Guy Branston on a month's loan, after losing fellow centre-back Chris Doig to a long-term injury. Doig will be on the sidelines for three to four months after tearing knee ligaments in the 1-1 draw against Darlington on Saturday. Branston, 28, has made nearly 250 league appearances for 11 clubs. Meanwhile the Cobblers' move to sign Polish defender Marcin Adamski has fallen through. Adamski had been on trial with Northampton, but the club could not agree terms with his agent. Cobblers boss Stuart Gray moved for Branston after Doig's injury was found to be worse than they had feared. "We thought Chris would only be out for a month and that it was just a hamstring injury, but he's going to need surgery," Gray told the club's website. "While we have some very talented centre-backs on our books, they don't have a great deal of experience between them. "So the knowledge and experience Guy will bring to us will be of benefit - he is a leader with a very good attitude." Branston is ineligible for Northampton's FA Cup replay with Darlington next Tuesday as he was not signed in time for the original tie, but he does have permission to play in the second round if Gray's men progress.

Peterborough sign Palace's Hughes
Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson has swooped to sign Crystal Palace left back Jeff Hughes on loan until January. Ferguson landed the 22-year-old after a move for Wycombe's former Peterborough defender Tom Williams fell through. Northern Ireland international Hughes joined Palace from Lincoln City in July and has made eight Championship appearances this season. "We are fortunate to get Jeff. He is a good addition to the squad," Ferguson told Peterborough's website.

Ferguson happy as Posh hit seven
Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson saluted his side after they hammered seven unanswered goals past Brentford. "We were absolutely outstanding - no-one would have lived with us today," Ferguson enthused. "You don't get days like that very often, but people have been saying that we were due to give someone a spanking. "They were spot-on in training during the week but I was absolutely delighted with the performance - it sends out a statement when you win 7-0."
