Parejo joins VCF's young Spanish project
Daniel Parejo Muñoz, known as ‘Dani Parejo,' was born in Coslada, Madrid on 16th April, 1989. At 22 years of age, he is one of the footballers of his generation with the most extensive success in his professional career, alongside the likes of Juan Mata. The new VCF signing started out with his local team, before being picked up by Real Madrid's youth academy as a star of the future. He debuted as part of the youth team in the 2006/07 season, whilst also earning the Spanish Under-19 national team glory with the final goal in the European Championship. Two years later, he achieved gold at the Mediterranean Games. After a second season at Real Madrid - Castilla, Parejo was shipped to English Championship side Queens Park Rangers. After just 14 games with the London side, Real Madrid decided to bring him back as a reserve member of the first team squad, and he played a further five games for the senior side.
One season later, Parejo made another move - this time to Getafe CF. He became a key player for manager ‘Míchel’ over the course of his two campaigns with the side, playing 80 matches and scoring 11 goals. In his first season, he played 36 times (28 league games plus eight cup games) and scored seven times.
His talent has continued to grow and he has played in a variety of competitions -adding UEFA Europa League experience to his CV this past season. His final term at Getafe saw him feature in 36 BBVA La Liga matches, score three goals and provide six assists, with his contribution helping to keep the side in the top flight.
Parejo is currently part of the Spanish Under-21 side participating in the European Championship, alongside new VCF teammate Mata.
