PAIR STAKE THEIR CLAIMS
QPR duo Dean Sturridge and Ian Evatt are knocking on the first-team door after winning plaudits in the reserves. First team coach Gary Waddock delivered a glowing report after watching a number of players further their claims for a first-team place in the 3-1 reserve win over Southend. He told the club's official website: "I was really pleased with Evatt and Sturridge's attitude and they both put in a decent performance. "The reserve games seem to be scattered about a bit and you can find yourself without a game for a couple of weeks, but we need to keep the boys ticking over." The game also provided a platform upon which strikers Shabazz Baidoo and Scott Donnelly could shine and Waddock added: "Shabazz looked very sharp and was a real handful all afternoon. Scott Donnelly needs games as he missed a big chunk of last season and we want to get him playing on a more regular basis. "For some of the others who have recently moved into this group, it was a chance for them to play a good competitive game and get their fitness levels up. We're coming up to a busy period with the first team and we need Ian Holloway to have a fully fit squad at his disposal."
