Novellino lined up for QPR
It’s rumoured another Italian will replace Luigi De Canio on the QPR bench – recently sacked Torino Coach Walter Novellino.
The club owned by Flavio Briatore today announced it was parting company “by mutual consent” with De Canio after he rescued them from relegation.
Although Zinedine Zidane has been mentioned as a possible successor, the Italian newspapers have other ideas.
It is reported that Novellino – nicknamed Monzon – has been taking English lessons and is preparing for a new experience overseas.
He was in charge of Torino up until last month, when the relegation-threatened side sacked him and brought back predecessor Gianni De Biasi.
It was the first firing of Novellino’s career and a painful event for the tactician, so he is eager to prove himself in a new arena.
He would be the latest Italian Coach to cross the English Channel after Fabio Capello took charge of the England side and Giovanni Trapattoni was handed the Republic of Ireland job.
