Chester 0-0 Notts County
Notts County were held to a goalless draw after striker Lawrie Dudfield wasted two excellent chances to wrap up the three points. Dudfield sliced wide from close range on 19 minutes and headed over when unmarked after 41 minutes. City's Laurence Wilson and Dave Artell tried their luck from long range, while Ashley Westwood should have done better with an effort inside the area. Drewe Broughton looked to have scored for City but was ruled offside. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chester: Danby, Linwood, Westwood, Artell, Marples, Stephen Vaughan, Martinez, Hand, Wilson, Blundell (Holroyd 83), Broughton. Notts County boss given FA charge
Notts County boss Steve Thompson has been charged by the Football Association following their recent 3-2 defeat by Milton Keynes Dons. He is charged with a breach of FA rule E3 - using abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official - and has until 19 September to respond. County had two players sent off in the game in question, while Thompson was sent to the stands. Subsequently, he was highly critical of referee Danny McDermid's performance.

Barnet v Notts County
Barnet striker Giuliano Grazioli is pushing for a place after coming off the bench to equalise against Boston. But manager Paul Fairclough could stick with the forward pairing of Tresor Kandol and Magno Vieira, who scored twice against Boston. Notts County may bring back midfield man Tom Curtis after a back injury which has kept him out for four games. Long-term absentee Tommy Hannigan has yet to fully recover from a hairline fracture in the spine.

Torquay v Notts County
Torquay will be without suspended defender Lee Thorpe but skipper Craig Taylor will return to the side. Striker Mickey Evans (calf) is also an injury doubt. The Magpies' sole injury victim is defender Tommy Hannigan who is getting over a long-term back injury and has yet to play a senior game this season. But other than that, Notts County manager Steve Thompson can call on a squad which is pretty much close to full strength.

Dudfield hands warning to Magpies
Striker Lawrie Dudfield wants Notts County to stop giving themselves a mountain to climb during games. Dudfield grabbed the equaliser as County came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Mansfield at the weekend. But he told the club website: \"We've got to stop going behind. It's hard to keep doing it and having to come back. \"We battled hard - before the game we would have probably taken a point, but to give them a head start like that makes it disappointing.\"

Notts County v Bristol Rovers
Notts County forward Jason Lee returns after completing a one-game ban. Dan Gleeson is also in contention and defender Tommy Hannigan could feature for the first time this season after recovering from a back injury. Bristol Rovers have concerns over midfielder James Hunt (knee) and Rickie Lambert (flu). On-loan Charlton striker James Walker should retain his place in the starting line-up and long-term absentee Robbie Ryan (ankle) remains sidelined.

Notts County 1-2 Bristol Rovers
Bristol Rovers claimed their first away win of the season as they ended Notts County's seven-match unbeaten run. Rovers took the lead when Sammy Igoe's free-kick was partially cleared and Craig Disley set up Richard Walker to score with a fine right-foot finish. County equalised when Junior Mendes cleverly skipped past two players and beat Scott Shearer at his near post. But within 60 seconds Rovers were back in front as Lewis Haldane cut in from the left and won it with a low drive. Grimsby v Notts County
Grimsby have on-loan Andy Butler available after missing the Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory against Lincoln. Boss Graham Rodger must decide whether to recall Butler or keep faith with Justin Whittle, while Tony Thorpe is also pushing for a return. Notts County have a doubt over Austin McCann, who has a hamstring injury and Liam Needham may deputise again. Tommy Hannigan is expected to be sidelined again because he lacks match fitness after a back injury.

Grimsby 0-2 Notts County
Veteran striker Jason Lee's late goal sealed the points for Notts County and pushed Grimsby towards the drop zone. Nick Fenton could have put the home side ahead in the first minute but headed Ciaran Toner's corner over. Junior Mendes opened the scoring for Notts County just before the hour mark, sweeping home David Pipe's cross from the right wing. Lee then popped up with a eight-yard header from Ian Ross' free-kick in the 83rd minute. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grimsby: Barnes, Croft, Fenton, Butler, Newey (McDermott 86), Bore, Bolland (Harkins 67), Boshell, Toner, Jones, Thorpe (Hegarty 62). Notts County v Bury
Notts County goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington and defender Dan Gleeson expect to be recalled after being rested in mid-week. There is still question a mark over the fitness of Austin McCann (knee) while Tom Curtis and Tommy Hannigan are out. Bury are without Colin Woodthorpe, who is struggling with a knee problem, and Chris Brass and Alan Fettis are out. Glynn Hurst will feature after extending his loan from Shrewsbury with a view to a permanent deal.

Notts County 0-1 Bury
Bury stretched their unbeaten run to six games thanks to a series of fine saves from Kasper Schmeichel and an Andy Bishop goal away at Notts County. White struck just after the half-hour mark, taking advantage of a slip from Alan White and taking the ball round Kevin Pilkington to roll home. Dan Martin failed to capitalise on two chances before Schmeichel produced fine reactions to save from Junior Mendes. Schmeichel also made a brilliant save to prevent from White making amends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notts County: Pilkington, Gleeson, Edwards (Hunt 59), White, McCann, Pipe, Somner (Sheridan 53), Ross, Martin, Lee, Mendes, Sheridan (N'Toya 89). Injury ends Smith's County spell
Jay Smith's spell at Notts County is over before it began after he returned to Southend with an ankle injury. The 25-year-old central midfielder, who was due to spend the whole week on trial at Meadow Lane, suffered the injury in his first training session. \"We understand he's surplus to requirements and we're always on the look-out to better our squad,\" boss Steve Thompson told the County website. \"When he is fit again we would like to look at him again.\"

SirStanleyBowles- 11-06-2006
Notts County v Wycombe
Wycombe central defender Will Antwi serves a one-match ban, and Tommy Doherty is also suspended. Midfielder Stefan Oakes is back from a three-game ban, while Aston Villa have given permission for on-loan Stephen O'Halloran to play. Notts County will make late decisions on David Pipe and Dan Gleeson. Gleeson has a back strain, while boss Steve Thompson has to consider whether to risk Pipe's long-term fitness with medial ligament problems.

SirStanleyBowles- 11-11-2006
Leyton Orient v Notts County
Influential midfielder Craig Easton has recovered from a foot injury and should return for Leyton Orient. Easton's return is a welcome boost for boss Martin Ling who is without Adam Chambers through suspension. Notts County will give a late fitness test to defender Dan Gleeson who has been plagued with a back injury. Right-back David Pipe is still feeling the effects of his medial knee ligament injury and is not certain to retain his place in the Magpies' starting line-up.
