Scoffham stays on trial at BurtonFormer Notts County striker Steve Scoffham is to be given an extended chance to earn a deal with Burton.
Scoffham, 22, played for the Brewers in their friendly defeat to Birmingham on Saturday and will continue to be assessed by Burton boss Nigel Clough.
\"Steve is definitely in contention and we would like to have a longer look at him,\" Clough told the Burton Mail.
\"He's trained with us once so far but he'll be with us this week and will play against Wolves on Saturday.\"

Ex-Notts man agrees to join Fleet
Gravesend & Northfleet have agreed terms with former Notts County midfielder Stacy Long, following a successful trial spell.
The Bromley-born former Charlton trainee, 21, was released by County at the end of last season.
Fleet boss Liam Daish also hopes to sign another trialist - 23-year-old striker Mark DeBolla.
DeBolla ended last season at Grays, having previously served Charlton, Chesterfield and Notts County.

Lincoln 1-1 Notts County
Notts County snatched a point at Lincoln after a spirited second-half fightback from Steve Thompson's side.
Thompson's team contained eight new faces in their starting line-up and quickly found themselves a goal down.
A 10th-minute corner from Jeff Hughes was cleared off the line but Lincoln's Adie Moses fired home the rebound.
And when on-loan midfielder Ian Ross sent in a left-wing free-kick, Lincoln's Jeff Hughes could only deflect the effort into his own net.

Thompson urges fans to be patient
Notts County manager Steve Thompson has urged supporters to stay patient after their draw against Shrewsbury.
The 1-1 draw leaves the Magpies with two points from two games, but Thompson said: \"Shrewsbury are a strong team and we had to battle against that.
\"Our fans must be patient. We are a new team and three weeks behind where I'd like to be. We're in for a long haul.\"
And he bemoaned a denied second-half penalty shout by Junior Mendes, saying: \"It was close to GBH in my view.\"

Peters fumes over Notts equaliser
Shrewsbury Town boss Gary Peters says Notts County's equaliser in Tuesday's 1-1 draw should not have stood.
Mike Edwards scored on 53 minutes after goalkeeper Ryan Esson failed to gather in a Gary Silk free-kick.
\"I'm frustrated for their goal, our goalkeeper's gone up to gather the ball and their fella's pulled him and grabbed his arm,\" said Peters.
\"Ryan was amazed that the goal stood and so will the referee be when he looks at the video of the game.\"

Notts County 1-0 Wycombe
Notts County celebrated their first home win since January thanks to a solitary strike by Junior Mendes.
They were made to work hard as wycombe fought to protect their unbeaten start - Anthony Grant went too far and was sent off after two first-half bookings.
By then, Wycombe were already behind after David Pipe cleverly opened up the defence and Mendes slid the ball home.
Mendes failed to convert two further chances while County just scrambled Mike Williamson's touch off the line.

Rochdale v Notts County
Rochdale have had back-up keeper Lewis Edge recalled by parent club Blackpool, while midfielder Rickie Lambert misses out with an ankle injury.
Skipper Gary Jones is missing with medial knee ligament, while Mark Jackson is also out as he continues to struggle with a thigh injury.
Notts County striker Jason Lee is pushing for a recall after recovering from an an Achilles tendon injury.
Tommy Hannigan is certain to miss out again with his persistent back injury.

Thompson has sympathy for Parkin
Notts County boss Steve Thompson admitted he felt for opposite number Steve Parkin after the Magpies' 1-0 win at Rochdale on Saturday.
It left Dale still without a League Two point after their first four games.
\"Steve is going through a tough time right now and we all sympathise with him,\" Thompson said.
\"We didn't want to be the ones to end their run of defeats, but we made hard work of it as if you don't kill teams off with a second goal, it's hectic.\"

Thompson relishes Notts cup upset
Notts County manager Steve Thompson pondered future selection headaches following his team's sensational Carling Cup win at Crystal Palace.
\"I'm delighted, pleased for the players and those who have come in have given me something to think about,\" he said.
\"The competition is strong now and there's a few knocking on the door for a first-team place.
\"The team spirit and togetherness showed. The lads wanted to do well and worked very, very hard.\"

Notts County 0-0 Peterborough
A goalless draw ensured Notts County and Peterborough maintained their unbeaten start to the season.
But County will not be happy after twice having penalty appeals turned down for challenges by Guy Branston on Jason Lee.
Chris Plummer shot over from six yards early in the game but from then on it was Steve Thompson's side who had the better of the match.
Branston and Trevor Benjamin wasted good chances for the visitors.

County encouraged after stalemate
First team coach John Gannon feels Notts County can take heart from their 0-0 draw against Peterborough.
\"Peterborough turn teams over with their attitude and the way they go about things,\" Gannon explained.
\"We had to meet them head on and we defended as a team, although we know there's room for improvement.
\"We were just a little short in the final area, with too many crosses hitting the first man, and not getting our shots off quicker.\"

Magpies manager lambasts referee
Notts County manager Steve Thompson blasted referee Danny McDermid after he sent off Matt Somner and Alan White in their 3-2 defeat at Milton Keynes Dons.
\"The referee should look in the mirror and decide if he's a referee or if he should be at a kindergarten party.
\"It was the worst refereeing display I've seen in 30 years of professional football. That man takes the biscuit.
\"I'm absolutely gutted one official can spoil a match like that. He has cost my lads a game of football,\" he fumed.

Boss Thompson will fine himself
Notts County manager Steve Thompson says he will fine both himself and captain Alan White following the weekend defeat at Milton Keynes Dons.
Thompson was sent to the stands and White was sent off in the second half but Matt Somner, who was also dismissed, will not be punished.
\"I will fine both myself and Whitey for ill-discipline,\" the Magpies boss told Sir Stanley.
\"The ref should decide if he's a ref or he should be at a kindergarten party.\"

Notts County 3-2 Accrington
Notts County held off a late fightback from Accrington to secure all three points at Meadow Lane.
The Magpies began superbly, Dan Martin setting up Mike Edwards to fire home before Martin doubled the lead in amazing style direct from a corner.
Martin then struck a 25-yard free-kick after a foul on Junior Mendes.
But Accrington fought back at the end with a Gary Roberts penalty after Mike Edwards fouled Andy Mangan before Paul Mullin tapped in, but it was too late.

Chester v Notts CountyAlan White and Matt Somner return for Notts County after one-match suspensions, placing Stephen Hunt's and Ian Ross's places under threat.
Midfielder Tom Curtis could also return after recovering from a back injury which kept him out for three games.
Chester will be without striker Jon Walters, who picked up an ankle injury in the defeat at Wycombe.
Dean Bennett still has a back problem, defender Phil Bolland (shoulder) and midfielder Glenn Cronin (foot) are out.
