Tyson ruled out for four months
Nottingham Forest striker Nathan Tyson will be out of action for four months with a knee ligament injury. Tyson was forced off after six minutes of Forest's 1-0 win over Bradford on Saturday and a scan has revealed medial ligament damage to his left knee. \"There's no operation required and there's no other damage to anything else in or around his knee,\" boss Colin Calderwood told the club website. \"But it's still a major injury and a big blow to Nathan.\" Tyson, who joined Forest permanently in January, will have to wear a leg brace for eight weeks. But Calderwood admitted he was expecting even worse news. \"It's better than we feared because he doesn't require surgery and in the long term his knee will be sound,\" Calderwood said. Midfielder Kris Commons, who was missed the Bradford game, is also set to have further scans on the knee and ankle he injured in pre-season.

Forest await reply on Agogo bid
Nottingham Forest have made a bid for Bristol Rovers striker Junior Agogo, reports Sir Stanley. Rovers first-team coach Paul Trollope confirmed Forest's interest in the Ghana international, 27, after Rovers' 1-0 win over Grimsby on Saturday. \"We've had the bid and will deal with it on its merits,\" Rovers director of football Lennie Lawrence told Sir Stanley. \"If it goes through, we'll be looking at replacements.\" Lawrence added: \"There's not going to be a long list, and personally I'd rather do nothing rather than do the wrong thing.\" Rovers first-team coach Paul Trollope said: \"We will do the right thing for the club and if he does go we will try to replace him with quality.\"

Northampton 0-1 Nottm Forest
Colin Calderwood enjoyed a happy return to Northampton as Forest maintained their 100% start to the season courtesy of Chris Doig's own goal. Jack Lester spurned an early chance to give Forest the lead after Doig upended Grant Holt inside the box, but he blazed the penlaty over the bar. Doig then deflected Holt's shot past Paul Smith before Scott McGleish was sent off for Northampton. Sammy Clingan almost doubled the lead late on but his shot hit the post. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Northampton: Bunn, Crowe, Chambers, Doig, Holt, Bojic (Quinn 65), Burnell (Jess 70), Taylor (Bradley Johnson 80), Aiston, McGleish, Kirk. Rovers reject Forest Agogo offer
Bristol Rovers have turned down a bid from Nottingham Forest for their star striker Junior Agogo. Speaking to Sir Stanley, chief executive Bill Smith confirmed Forest had \"some way to go\" in meeting Rovers' valuation of the 27-year-old. \"I'm confident he'll stay with Rovers unless I get an offer which I think is a really good offer,\" Smith said. \"If that happens, that money would enable us to replace him with at least as good or better player.\" Rovers first-team coach Paul Trollope confirmed Forest's interest in the Ghana international after Rovers' 1-0 win over Grimsby on Saturday.

Nottm Forest v Brighton
Nottingham Forest midfielder Gary Holt has recovered from a viral infection. But Forest boss Colin Calderwood is not expected to risk midfielder Kris Commons who is on the way back from an ankle injury. Brighton boss Mark McGhee will leave out Colin Kazim-Richards will again be left out despite having his transfer request turned down. Jake Robinson could make way for Dean Cox, while defender Keith Lowe is pushing for his first start.

Nottm Forest 2-1 Brighton
Grant Holt's double maintained Forest's 100% start as the striker ended his side's jinx of having missed penalties in their three previous league games. Forest had to come from behind after Alex Revell crossed for Jake Robinson to fire home in the first half. Holt fired Forest level from the spot just before the hour mark after Jack Lester was fouled by Adam El-Abd. Holt then headed past Wayne Henderson before El-Abd was sent off in the final minute following a second yellow card. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nottm Forest: Smith, Morgan (Curtis 45), Breckin, Cullip, Southall, Perch (Thompson 84), Gary Holt, Clingan, Bennett, Grant Holt, Lester (Harris 70). Calderwood hails Forest hero Holt
Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood saluted two-goal Grant Holt after the 2-1 win over Brighton which keeps up their 100% record after four games. \"Grant turned in an exceptional centre-forward performance,\" he said. \"He wasn't in the team when we kicked off the season but with Nathan Tyson injured, he's done superbly well. \"The penalty was a pressure situation as we were behind and had missed from the spot in our first three games. But Grant was confident about taking it.\"

Accrington 1-0 Nottingham Forest
Paul Mullin's deflected shot gave Accrington Stanley a shock victory over four-times winners Nottingham Forest in the first round of the Carling Cup. Stanley took the lead on 61 minutes when Mullin's shot hit Forest defender Danny Cullip and bounced into the net. Forest had plenty of chances late on and Neil Harris went closest to equalising with a close-range header. But Stanley held on to claim a memorable victory - their first ever in this competition. Accrington have won only one League Two game this season following their return to the Football League after a 44-year absence. In contrast, former European champions Forest have made a flying start to their League One campaign, winning all four of their League games. Forest boss Colin Calderwood had made five changes to the side that beat Brighton on Saturday but the visitors were still big favourites to triumph here. Stanley had other ideas, and even before Mullin's goal, Gary Roberts and Rommy Boco both tested Forest keeper Paul Smith. The Lancashire club were hanging on by the end but Stanley keeper Ian Dumbavin pulled off three top class saves to ensure his side progressed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman: \"It is not a shock to me that we won. I always think we will. \"If you put us up against Manchester United tomorrow, I would have a game plan to beat them. \"I hope it encourages the players to relax - Why be scared of anyone in our division now? And I think we can play better than that too.\" Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood: \"Congratulations to Accrington. They have claimed our scalp. \"I ask myself if it was a setback or a catastrophe. I have to say it was a setback because we just did not perform well enough. \"We are doing well in the league but there is always something that comes up and bites you on the backside.\" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Accrington Stanley: Dunbavin, Cavanagh, Williams, Welch, Richardson, Todd, Craney, Harris (Edwards 70), Roberts (N'da 90), Mullin, Boco. Subs Not Used: Mangan, Doherty, Byrom. Goals: Mullin 61. Nottm Forest: Smith, Morgan (Southall 71), Cullip, Breckin, Curtis, Clingan (Grant Holt 65), Thompson, Gary Holt, Padula, Weir-Daley (Lester 71), Harris. Subs Not Used: Perch, Pedersen. Booked: Cullip, Southall. Att: 2,146 Ref: C Webster (Tyne & Wear).

Calderwood calls for big reaction
Colin Calderwood is adamant Nottingham Forest's Carling Cup loss to Accrington Stanley will not affect their promotion push and good start in League One. \"It's never going to be a continual upward curve in any football season,\" the Forest boss told Sir Stanley. \"But this definitely won't halt us because we've got a good group in the dressing room. \"The main focus is the league and the response and reaction from ourselves in the next three or four days.\" The 1-0 reverse at Accrington came as a shock to the system after a solid start to the season for Calderwood's men. They are one of only three teams in the Football League still boasting a 100% record and Stanley, fresh from promotion from the Conference, have struggled to make an impact in League Two. But throw in the television cameras and large dose from the bottle labelled \"Cup Romance\" and you have a nice recipe for an upset. \"The TV cameras got what they wanted,\" Calderwood added, \"a home win against Nottingham Forest. \"I'm hugely disappointed to be out of the cup but we have to lick our wounds and accept it.\" As to whether Stanley deserved their first win in their debut in the tournament, the Scot's \"probably not\" was less than magnanimous. \"We made poor decisions on the ball,\" he explained. \"It was an average first half and an improving second half when we looked better. \"We looked as if we might score, we were more threatening and then they go up the other end and score a goal. \"Sometimes you've just got to take it and absorb these results.\" Forest made five changes but Calderwood refused to point the finger at any newcomers and instead focused on the fact that to achieve success a club has to embrace a squad ethos. \"The boys who came in did a stout effort and I've no recriminations against any of them,\" he added. \"The changes I made were because we've got a group of players and I tried to make sure we got the energy levels right within the group. \"Players who have been really deserving of a chance came in and they've given their heart and soul for the shirt. \"But our priority is to win the league and the 11 who start the season will never ever get us up, the squad will get us up, so we've got to be fair to them.\"

Dobie scores on Forest comeback
Nottingham Forest striker Scott Dobie enjoyed a goalscoring return on his long-awaited comeback from injury. The 27-year-old Scotland international has not played since February and spent more than six months on the sidelines with a serious hip problem. He has also received specialist treatment in the United States. However, he came on as a substitute with 20 minutes left of a reserve game against Shrewsbury on Wednesday - and scored twice as Forest won 6-0.

Forest closing in on Agogo swoop
Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood has said that he hopes to finally tie up the signing of Bristol Rovers striker Junior Agogo this week. Forest previously had a bid for the Ghana international turned down. But Rovers boss Paul Trollope admitted last week that Agogo, 27, could have played his last game for the Pirates. \"We couldn't get the administration through in time on Friday but hopefully on Tuesday, after the bank holiday, it will be resurrected,\" Calderwood said. Forest have taken 13 points out of a possible 15 from their five league games this season. Reflecting on Saturday's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield which ended their 100% record, Calderwood added: \"A point here by any team is good, and a lesser team would have been well beaten today. \"August has been a good month, and if we can follow on from that I will be pleased.\"

Huddersfield 1-1 Nottm Forest
Nottingham Forest dropped their first points of the League One campaign after Huddersfield held them to a draw. Grant Holt put the visitors ahead after 34 minutes when he pounced on a loose ball after Sammy Clingan's free-kick was not held by keeper Matthew Glennon. But the Terriers responded admirably as they battled away for an equaliser. They were rewarded after 72 minutes when Gary Taylor-Fletcher headed in the rebound after Danny Schofield's 25-yard curler hit the crossbar. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Huddersfield: Glennon, Holdsworth, Mirfin, Nathan Clarke, Adams, Taylor-Fletcher (Young 86), Hudson, Collins, Schofield, Booth, Beckett (Abbott 71). Wycombe wrap up Fernandez signing
Wycombe Wanderers have completed the signing of central defender Vincent Fernandez on a three-month loan deal from Nottingham Forest. The 19-year-old Frenchman is expected to make his Wycombe debut against Mansfield on Friday. \"We saw Vincent in the summer and have kept track of him since then,\" said Wycombe manager Paul Lambert. \"Forest have kindly agreed to let us have him here for three months and it'll be good to see what he can do.\" Fernandez is highly rated by Forest boss Colin Calderwood and made his debut for the Reds against Swansea last season.

Forest complete signing of Agogo
Nottingham Forest have finally completed the signing of Bristol Rovers striker Junior Agogo. The 27-year-old Ghanaian has signed a three-year deal at the City Ground after joining for an undisclosed fee. \"I've been brought here to score goals and hopefully I can do just that. I've got no qualms about making the step up from League Two,\" said Agogo. Agogo scored 45 goals in a three-year spell in Bristol after previously playing for both QPR and Barnet. He added: \"I'm joining a massive club and I can't express how happy I am to be here. \"I'm hoping I can do the business while I'm here and the club and myself can go forward. \"Forest have made a great start to the season and there's no reason why we shouldn't be in the Championship next season. \"Who knows where we can go from there?\" Forest had been chasing Agogo for three weeks after an opening day injury to striker Nathan Tyson, which will see him miss four months of the season.
