Newry City 2-1 Glentoran
Newry boss Roy Coyle saw City cause an upset against his former club in Tuesday night's CIS Cup Group A game.
James Willis put Newry ahead on 11 minutes with an easy 10-yard finish before Glens skipper Colin Nixon headed in an equaliser after 27 minutes.
Paddy Quinn shot City into a 2-1 lead on 35 minutes but was sent-off five minutes later for an elbow offence.
Hamilton struck the crossbar with 10 minutes left as Newry held on to win and move second behind the Glens.
Referee Colin Burns dismissed Quinn for an elbow on Glentoran midfielder Willo McDonagh.
The visitors would have qualified for the CIS quarter-finals with a victory over City.
