Murphy reveals QPR snub
Daryl Murphy has revealed that he chose to stay at Sunderland after holding sit down talks with manager Roy Keane. Murphy came close to joining Championship side Queens Park Rangers at the end of the January transfer window. But after speaking with Keane he opted to stay at the Stadium of Light, a decision he insists he is 'delighted' with. "The club accepted an offer for me from QPR and I was just trying to get my head round it when the gaffer called me in, sat me down and said he wanted to keep me at the club and give me a run in the team, and it was then up to me to fight for my place.," he told the Sunderland Echo. Delighted "I was really trying to get my head round the fact that I was leaving and then that happened. "I just wanted to go out and play as well as I have always tried to play for Sunderland. "I think maybe the gaffer realised I do have something to offer the team and the club and I was delighted when he said he wanted to keep me here. "He has still been playing me and giving me a run, so he has not just kept me for the sake of it. I am delighted I stayed."
