Torquay 0-2 MK Dons Torquay dropped to the foot of League Two as they slumped against MK Dons.
The Gulls missed several chances before Clive Platt put the Dons ahead when he lashed the ball into the top corner.
Izale McLeod, who has been linked with a big move in January, made it 2-0 from the penalty spot on 38 minutes, having been fouled himself by Steve Angus.
With eight minutes left Torquay boss Lubos Kubik took the unusual step of taking off Nathan Abbey and replacing him with reserve keeper Martin Horsell.

Boss Allen hails Dons' resilience MK Dons boss Martin Allen said he was impressed by the way his team recovered from missing two penalties to snatch a late draw against Lincoln.
"It takes a lot of mental strength to come back after missing two penalties," said Allen.
"To miss one before the break for 2-0 was disappointing, but to miss another at the end was a hammer blow.
"Some players may have hid in that situation but our boys kept going and got their reward at the death."

McLeod given five-game suspension MK Dons striker Izale McLeod has lost his appeal against his dismissal during Saturday's defeat at Hartlepool and been hit by a five-game ban.
The striker was shown a straight red card for an incident involving Pools defender Michael Nelson in the 82nd minute of the match at Victoria Park.
The Football Association rejected McLeod's appeal on Tuesday.
He must serve a five-game ban because it was his third red card of the season and will be out until 20 February.

Surgery to end Wilbraham season MK Dons midfielder Aaron Wilbraham will miss the rest of the season to undergo surgery on an ankle problem.
Wilbraham has been out since mid-March and boss Martin Allen has tried to postpone an operation.
Allen told Milton Keynes Today: "I've kept it a little quiet but Aaron does need an operation, and when he has it he's going to be out for three months.
"I was keeping him back in case I needed him if the season went on a little longer, but he's not right."

Allen confident over Dons future MK Dons boss Martin Allen is confident his side can bounce back from their play-off defeat by Shrewsbury.
The Dons lost their League Two semi-final 2-1 and Allen said: "It has not been a great first year in charge for me but it was certainly a good one.
"We are looking forward to playing in the new stadium and there is definitely a mood of optimism about the place now.
"We have converted a lot of fans which will only continue at the new ground. Things will get better and better."

Mandaric to hold talks with Allen Leicester have been given permission to speak to MK Dons boss Martin Allen about their vacant managerial post.
SSB reports that Allen is favourite for the job ahead of Neil Warnock and Nigel Worthington.
A club statement said: "Leicester have been given permission by MK Dons to speak to Martin Allen with regards to the vacant managerial position.
"Chairman Milan Mandaric will hold talks with Allen later this week as part of the recruitment process."
Allen, 41, guided MK Dons to the League Two play-offs, where they lost in the semi-final to Shrewsbury.
He has only spent one season at MK Dons but had already built a reputation as one of the game's brightest young managers when he was at Brentford.
The news will come as a disappointment to Warnock, who would have been hoping to make a swift return to football after his departure from Bramall Lane.
Mandaric recently told the Leicester Mercury: "Neil Warnock is a good and experienced manager and may be under consideration.
"But he is only one of several on the list I will be considering. As it is such an important decision, I will not be rushed.
"I have had no dialogue with him or anyone else."
Worthington took over as caretaker manager of the Foxes in April after the departure of Rob Kelly.
He helped steer the club away from relegation and was also on the shortlist - but also looks to have lost out to Allen.

McLeod is transfer-listed by Dons Managerless Milton Keynes Dons have transfer-listed star striker Izale McLeod - and say they will listen to "serious offers" for him.
The England Under-21 man, 22, scored 24 league and cup goals last season but has rejected the offer of a new deal.
"Izale believes that playing in League Two is having a detrimental effect on his England career," chairman Pete Winkelman told the club's website.
"It is the club's policy not to hinder any player's opportunity to progress."
McLeod has scored 60 league and cup goals in 135 appearances since joining the Dons from Derby in the summer of 2004.
He was League Two's joint top scorer last season, when Milton Keynes rejected a £1m bid from rivals Peterborough, but he also collected three red cards during the campaign.

Milton Keynes sign Swindon winger Milton Keynes Dons have signed former Swindon winger Mustapha Carayol on a two-year contract.
The Gambia-born 18-year-old, who came through the Robins' youth ranks, was registered for first-team duty last season during an injury crisis.
However, he did not make a first-team appearance and was released at the end of the season, before joining Milton Keynes for pre-season training.
He impressed boss Paul Ince by scoring twice in the 5-1 win over Ampthill.

Midfielder Alan Navarro, 26, joins on a one-year deal following his summer release by Macclesfield.
Also on a one-year deal is former Gillingham midfielder Luke Howell, 20.
Howell and Abbey were unused substitutes against the Shakers, while Gueret was in goal, although Navarro was not in the matchday squad.

Campbell impressed by Dons' ethic Olympic gold medallist Darren Campbell has been impressed with the work ethic of Milton Keynes's players after taking his second training session.
Campbell, a close friend of boss Paul Ince, has been brought in to help the players with their explosive power and running techniques.
"After the sprint sessions they have to go and implement it into the work they are doing," said Campbell
"They've all remembered the techniques they were taught in the first session."
