Millwall release defender Pooley
Millwall defender Dean Pooley has left the club by mutual consent. The 20-year-old failed to force his way into manager Willie Donachie's first-team plans and made just one appearance for the Lions. That came as a substitute at the end of last season in the 1-0 home victory against Burnley. The centre-back signed professional terms at The Den in December 2005 and was sent out on loan to Beckenham Town in September this year.

Millwall v Scunthorpe
Millwall could be without striker Ben May (groin) but defender Richard Shaw returns after a thigh problem. Neal Ardley could be in the squad after a long spell out due to a hernia operation, along with Marvin Williams. Keeper Josh Lillis will make his league debut for Scunthorpe as first-choice Joe Murphy serves a one-game ban. Skipper Andy Crosby is also suspended, so veteran Ian Baraclough is set for a recall in midfield, with Richards Hinds switching to central defence.

Brentford 1-4 Millwall
Millwall stretched Brentford's winless run to 22 games as they comfortably won the battle of League One's bottom two. Simon Cox and Kevin O'Connor missed good chances to equalise before Hubertz headed in Danny Senda's cross for 2-0 and set up Paul Robinson for the third. O'Connor pulled one back with a penalty but Charlie Ide was sent off for a foul and Darren Byfield scored the penalty. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brentford: Masters, Heywood, Griffiths, Frampton, Osborne, Cox (Moore 63), O'Connor, Kuffour, Mousinho, Ide, Willock. Youngster Ali Fuseini replaced Senda at Sixfields, and could be drafted in. Gillingham will be without defender Ian Cox for the trip to Millwall after his dismissal against Oldham on Saturday. Brent Sancho is set to take his place, while Alan Pouton (back) is still not fully fit to start the match and Dean McDonald is doubtful with a knock.

Grays recruit Wilkinson and Grant
Grays have signed Lincoln midfielder Tom Wilkinson and Millwall striker Gavin Grant on loan, reports SSB. Wilkinson, 21, has left Sincil Bank to join the Conference club for the rest of the season. "It will give him a chance to be more involved, and strengthen his chances of earning a new contract here," Imps boss John Schofield told his club's website. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Grant has moved initially for a month, with a view to extending until the end of the season.

Darlington boss Dave Penney has snapped up Millwall defender Mark Phillips to help his side's play-off challenge. The 24-year-old right-sided defender has joined the Quakers on loan until the end of the season and could make his debut against Hartlepool on Sunday. Philips has started 65 games for Millwall since coming through the club's youth scheme. However, injuries and illness have restricted him to just 14 appearances, including nine starts, this season.

Millwall secure additional funds
Millwall have secured further financing after an Extraordinary General Meeting. American investors Chestnut Hill Ventures (CHV) and Graham Lacey will provide additional investment to the League One side. The financing comes in the form of just under £2m in investment in addition to a £4m loan. Supporters' organisation The Lions Trust wanted shareholders to vote with the board at the EGM in support of the Chestnut Hill Ventures' investment.

However, the former Arsenal trainee will now be available to play for Millwall until the last game of the season against Bradford.

Lions land Alexander and Spiller
Millwall boss Willie Donachie has agreed to sign striker Gary Alexander and midfielder Danny Spiller, who will join the Lions on 1 July. Alexander, 27, opted to leave Leyton Orient at the end of his contract. "Once I knew Willie wanted to sign me, there was only one club I was going to join," he told Millwall's website. Meanwhile, 26-year-old Spiller - who had also been linked with Millwall's neighbours Charlton - rejected the offer of a new contract at Gillingham. "I'm ambitious and I believe Millwall are going to be strong challengers for promotion next season," Spiller added. Both players have completed medicals at the New Den.

Millwall hit with £30,000 FA fine
Millwall have been handed a £30,000 fine by the Football Association after failing to improve their discipline. The fine was imposed after the Lions failed "to show an improvement in its disciplinary record" and for a "poor record of misconduct" last season. They will be handed a further £30,000 fine if they fail to improve this term. Millwall have also been warned about their future conduct after failing to ensure players conducted themselves properly at Huddersfield in April.

Veteran midfielder Ardley retires
Millwall midfielder Neal Ardley has retired from professional football after a lengthy battle with injury and will turn his attention to coaching. The 34-year-old joined from Cardiff last summer and is set to return to the Bluebirds as youth academy manager. Ardley was restricted to only 15 Lions appearances due to a number of injuries and has decided to hang up his boots to pursue a coaching career. "I've had a great career and enjoyed every club," he told the club's site. "I'm 35 and not likely to feature prominently in the side this season, so it makes sense to stop playing and turn my attention to coaching." Ardley started his career with Wimbledon and has also played for Watford.

Millwall to secure Sancho signing
Former Gillingham defender Brent Sancho is poised to sign for Millwall on a month's contract. The Trinidad and Tobago centre half has been training with the Millwall squad for the past week and can now join the club after receiving a work permit. "He hasn't been with the club so we are able to sign him even outside the window," manager Kenny Jackett told the club's official website. "It's an opportunity to show us what he can do over the next few weeks." Sancho made 50 appearances for Gillingham before being released at the end of last season.
