Marcus Bignot has signed a one-year contract with QPR
The experienced defender's deal was due to expire at the end of June, but he has pledged his future to the club for a further 12 months.
Bignot, who returned for a second spell at Loftus Road in March 2004, is happy to have resolved his future.
"I am delighted to have committed my future to QPR," Bignot told the club's official website.
"As any professional footballer will tell you, it is vitally important to be settled and I did not want the uncertainty of not knowing where I would be playing my football next year going on any longer."
R's boss John Gregory had been confident the full-back would sign a new deal and expects Bignot to be a key figure in his plans next season.
"I'm delighted that he's accepted our offer," said Gregory.
"He was a major player last year and he'll have a pivotal role to play next season too.
"He's a fantastic professional, a born leader and a very consistent performer at this level."
