Keeper Jones signs new QPR deal
Wales goalkeeper Paul Jones has signed a new one-year contract to stay with Queens Park Rangers. The 39-year-old arrived at Loftus Road in February on a free transfer after being released by Wolves. "I'm delighted to have signed, there was never any doubt I'd re-sign," Jones told the club's official website. "When I came here initially it was just to help out in the short term, but I got the buzz back and really enjoyed my time towards the end of the season." Jones, who has won 44 caps, is part of the Wales squad for friendly matches against a Basque XI and Trinidad & Tobago later this month. The veteran is then targeting helping QPR move upwards after a turbulent season that saw Ian Holloway depart as manager. "There is no reason why this club should not be challenging for promotion come next season," Jones told www.stellargroup.co.uk. "This is a club that has established itself in the Premier League before and that has to be our aim before too long. "I am sure that we will be bringing in some new faces over the summer and the guys who are here all want to put last season behind them and make amends. "We've got some great youngsters coming through and I'm just glad to be part of the club's future."
