Jones eyes New Year resolution
Highly-rated Queens Park Rangers prospect Ray Jones admits he is flattered by Premiership interest in his services. Fulham and Charlton Athletic have both been linked with a January move for the promising 18-year-old, whose contract at Loftus Road is set to expire in the summer. With five goals already to his name this season, Jones insists his contract issues should be resolved by the turn of the year. \"I think by January we'll have that sorted out and I'll just concentrate on my football,\" Jones stated. \"It's flattering to get linked with clubs in the Premiership, it's a big buzz, but I'm at QPR and do what I'm doing at the moment for QPR, whatever happens in the future will happen.\" Veteran Rangers front man Kevin Gallen has stressed the importance of the club retaining a player of Jones' quality, rather than cash in at Christmas. \"Ray's a good player and we need to keep our good players at the club and not give them away, so it's important he signs,\" said Gallen. \"First and foremost we need to get out of trouble then we can bring more young players through.\" Both strikers are set to resume their Championship quest at home to fellow strugglers Barnsley on Saturday.
