Jol expecting tough Sevilla test
Tottenham manager Martin Jol believes his side will have to play "better than ever" if they are to knock defending champions Sevilla out of the Uefa Cup.
Spurs travel to Spain to take on the holders in their Uefa Cup quarter-final first leg on Thursday.
"We have to play well, we have to play better than ever," Jol said ahead
"I saw them against Barcelona last year and they were the better team. They played for the Super Cup against Barcelona and they beat them 3-0."
He added: "They won the Uefa Cup, they are second in La Liga so what can I say?
"It will be a hell of a fight but for us it is important to get a good result because our home record is very good as well."
Jol insisted he would not consider it a failure if they failed to get past Sevilla.
"If you have to play against the strongest team of course its not a failure," he said.
"They won the Uefa Cup last year and I still feel they are probably the favourites this year."
Tottenham striker Robbie Keane says his side will go into the tie with confidence high.
Keane's side are seeking a record-equalling ninth consecutive victory in the tournament.
He said: "Sevilla is a massive game and we're well aware of that. They are a good side and domestically they are doing well, but so are we.
"We'll go in with a lot of confidence. We're looking forward to it."
Tottenham were the first Uefa Cup champions in 1972 and are bidding to win the competition for the first time since 1984.
Sevilla sporting director Ramon Rodriguez has warned his side that Spurs are "devilishly quick" up front.
Rodriguez told Spanish newspaper Diario de Sevilla: "Tottenham are not a typical English side. They always try to pass the ball around - even coming out of defence - without hitting long balls.
"They are also devilishly quick in midfield and attack.
"Dimitar Berbatov is an excellent striker. When he has the ball at his feet, he is extremely dangerous and can punish you in an instant."
