Injury latest from Loftus Road Martin Rowlands is expected to return to the R's starting XI against Preston North End on Saturday, after the midfielder came through last weekend's 0-0 draw versus Ipswich Town unscathed.
The midfield maestro was only fit enough to take his place on the bench for the trip to Portman Road, but having played over half an hour without any repercussions of the neck injury he sustained at Wolves seven days earlier, the 29 year-old has been declared fit to start against the Lilywhites this weekend.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, R's Head Physio Paul Hunter gave us the latest from the treatment table, commenting: "Martin came off against Wolves with a neck complaint and after only returning to full training last Friday, it was decided that it was in Martin's best interests that he start on the bench.
"Thankfully, when he came on, he did a fantastic job and more importantly, didn't suffer any setbacks and as a result, he will be in contention for a starting berth on Saturday."
It's a race against time for this weekend's fixture where fellow R's midfielder Akos Buzsaky is concerned.
The Magical Magyar sustained an ankle injury whilst on international duty with Hungary last week and after missing our goalless draw against the Tractor Boys, the 25 year-old now faces intensive rehabilitation as he aims to be fit for the visit of Alan Irvine's men to W12 on Saturday.
"Akos aggravated his ankle on international duty," Hunter told www.qpr.co.uk.
"The Ipswich fixture came far too early for him, but we'll continue to monitor his progress in a bid to get him ready for Preston this weekend."
Meanwhile, Jake Cole is progressing nicely following recent elbow surgery.
The R's goalkeeper has been sidelined for the last month or so, but is now well on the road to recovery, as Hunter explained: "Jake is back in light training and is making excellent progress.
"He should return to full training in the not too distant future and then it's just a case of working on his match sharpness ahead of a potential return to the First Team squad."
