HOLLOWAY ASKS FOR INVESTMENT
QPR boss Ian Holloway has called for extra investment to finance a genuine push for promotion. Holloway is keen to buy a striker when the transfer window re-opens in January to help Rangers cement a Championship play-off place. "We need some new investment - and we believe that it will arrive in the near future," said Holloway. "I would like to go the supermarket and buy some produce instead of having to get out-of-date stuff. "It irks me to see Sheffield Wednesday offering £750,000 for and we have to get into that market. "We are working towards upping the budget so we can attract better players."

QPR CHIEF PROMISES GAFFER CASH
QPR chairman Gianni Paladini has promised boss Ian Holloway money to spend when the transfer window re-opens. Holloway is desperate to sign a new forward and has spoken of his frustration at seeing Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday able to bid £750,000 for striker Nathan Tyson, who has since left Wycombe for Nottingham Forest. And Holloway's wish looks set to be granted after Paladini insisted there would be funds available in January. "It's up to (Holloway) who he wants and, provided it's the right player for this club and he fits into our wage structure, we will definitely try to bring him in," Paladini told the Camden Times. "As long as it's not silly money, there shouldn't be a problem. We've already brought in seven or eight players this year and if we need to get someone else, it would probably be a striker."

HOLLOWAY WANTS TOP STRIKER
QPR boss Ian Holloway has pleaded with chairman Gianni Paladini to sign a prolific striker. The Rangers chief is frustrated by his side's comparative lack of goals this term - they have managed 20 in 18 Championship matches - and feels a proven forward is what is needed to push them up the table. "I feel a bit sick at the moment, because we haven't spent money on a forward, and we need to do that," Holloway said. "Forwards make the difference, because they put the ball in the back of the net. Look at what Michael Owen has done for Newcastle. "We have to start spending money on quality players to add to what we have already - and then I'm sure we won't be far away."
